Did anyone else notice any "netcode" issues since sparks update ? (video included)

So i had similar issues when we were on fletcher patch, but it was pretty much perfect on kira patch.

In short:

  1. My hits doesnt seems to register at times.

  2. Hit registration seems delayed.

  3. I feel as if people would see me before i can see them (reaction time of some players simply seems a lot better then normally, even when they are level 1 ;p).

  4. I cant seem to be able to “dodge” as if my hitbox would lag behind me.

My ping is around 60ms and i play against low ping players, but something simply feels odd. On the other hand i do ping as high as 240ms on some europe servers when its fine on others. Just check out the video.

On scene nr 1 you can see how my shots does not register, unless of course blishlok went full retard.

On scene nr 2 at the start on the right lower corner you can see how fragger goes super saiyan and teleports out of my vision and later on you can see that hit markers are kinda delayed.

On scene nr 3 you can see how i blowed myself with a fletcher sticky bomb that shouldnt even damage me, let alone kill me. (on a side note were stickies buffed ? i can kill vassili with 1 just one now but iirc it would deal 90 before the patch). I am aware that this was a known bug BUT it never happend to me with stickies before (and i think it was suppose to be fixed).

Things like that did happen from time to time in the past but now playing DB is just painful for me as it happens all the time ;(.

Am i the only one with the issue or do anyone else feel that something is very off network wise ?

Yes! It has been so bad for me since the update that I literally just uninstalled the game. It’s just too frustrating. In addition to what you mention(I was having all of that) I would also sometimes be hit by players that were not visible on my screen(e.g. they were actually there, but I could not see them on my screen until after that had shot me once or twice meaning I was either almost dead, or totally dead if playing proxy). I also feel like proxy’s shotgun got nerfed a bit, but it’s hard to tell for sure given the issues I was having. Anyways, yeah, not just you. And as for me? I’m done for now. It’s to the point where more often than not, I just wasn’t having fun. Maybe they’ll fix it in the next update or 2. Let me know if they do.

Yeah, it gets like that. This looks like dropped packets and lag.

This is right after OB. It stopped once “server maintenance” was conducted, but the exact same behaviour started again a couple days ago. Makes the game unplayable.

I’m getting this too. Also once dead, the death cam has final bullet going through walls, which is fun.

this is normal, since hit detection is client-sided

I know you can get the small going through walls stuff, but this is really though walls :slight_smile:

Glad that i am not the only one and i hope that phantom patch will fix that. Kira patch was fantastic hit detection wise, but this patch is simply unplayable ;(.

YES.

Often my ping goes up to 270 on servers where i should be getting 20-30ms ping.
The other pings are from my teammates, they dont have that much problems.

So we are playing 4v5 atm -.-

Thats exactly why i was so against client side hit detection. I really do hope its like that only because SD/Nexon wasnt ready for this much people in a short time and servers are simply overloaded.

Inconsistency really kills the game for me ;(.

how often do you get this problems?

I only ever had such crazy events with 999 ping situations; when things are calm&normal hit detection is absolutely excellent, esp. for a game as fast as this.

I had it all the time when it was a fletcher patch, it was perfect when on kira patch and now its horrible again. I did play today on one server that did work just fine, had no issues, felt the same as kira patch.

I wonder if maybe there is some servers that are really low quality and im just unlucky ?

based on all the hotfixes they’ve been doing during these patches cause of ‘huge and unexpected’ amount of players, I’d wager this is very much a server issue.

I can’t say with certainty, but I’m betting on it being a server issue. The warping issue started for me right after OB. It ended, mercifully, after server maintenance. It began again a few days ago around the time some notable youtube celebs released DB videos and there was a surge in player numbers. Coincidence?

What I’m worried about is this issue persisting after DB is released proper. Unless you’re the masochistic type it’s literally unplayable.

In the last week I too have had some horrendous matches where I just can’t land hits most of the time. Before that it was intermittent where I half assumed it was a mix of an unfavourable server or just not having a good day.

IMO the open Beta has only amplified the problems, even before that i had a lot more hit sounds than hitmarkers, and now that i am forced to play vassili it is more obvious that the hitbox is everywhere except where it should be, interpolation also seems too high because i die before i am around a corner on my screen, same goes for enemies sometimes.

@ragnak there cant be any good hit detection when you have a high ping like this. Especially when there are ppl with such a high ping in the server they are ruining the hit detection for everybody on it. and that is the only time when I do experience bad hit detection.

The clips i showed was made when i was at 50ms and so was the enemy players, it have nothing to do with high ping.

I noticed something else since the last update. Ill be in a firefight and might get hit here and there and all the sudden I feel as if I am hit by a supernova. Like the server can’t keep up with the packets and I just drop dead.

Also I tend to get shot behind walls more often.

24-36 ping EU servers.
