DEVS! Add ability to more easily ban troublesome players....

It is currently far to hard to ban/kick troublesome players. A large part of the problem is that a vote is required from both the team the problem player is on AND the opposing team, who for the most part probably dont really care. Please consider these suggestions for making it easier to get rid of these players.

  1. Only the problem players (Tking, team damage ect…) team needs to vote and only 35-50 percent vote is required to kick/ ban. Require 35 percent ban/kick for 8 or more teammates and 50 percent if its less that 8.

  2. Auto frag for any teammate who takes ANY offensive action against a team (including more passive damage like flashbang) within the first 5-10 seconds of a new map round.

  3. Make it easy to initiate a kick/ban player option. Dont make it so that you have to type it out in the console to kick people out. When one person starts a vote, have the vote automatically go out to the WHOLE TEAM. Then they only have to choose an option.

  4. The options would be KICK or BAN for 24 hours. In the very long years Ive played, Ive NEVER seen a group maliciously choose a player to ban for fun. But Ive seen hundreds of games completely ruined by the complicated method of ridding ourselves of problem players.

I think these things would help a lot. Please… if anyone has any other suggestions, put them down. I know you have experienced this too. Maybe it can be better dealt with in ETQW.

This hasn’t been true since ET 2.56 AFAIK… only your own team sees kick votes, and only your teams votes count.

ET vote percentages are configureable.

Flashbang ? what game are you talking about. You also sometimes need to frag doorblockers or AFKs who are in the way.

I have seen plenty of players kicked for no reason, or silly reasons. But in any case, it is far better to allow the server admin to configure temp ban times. You can already do this for PB kicks. I forget whether this affects regular kicks or not…

The problems you describe really sound like you are talking about some game other than ET. The only big problem with banning in ET is that cd keys are free.

The only problem I have with voting to kick players is most servers require near 100% to pass and they allow the offending player to vote. Kind of defeats the purpose of the vote IMO.

Only the admins of the server need to be kicking people. period. Kick vote systems are usually abused by wanna be elitest asses.

ca nt you add the ability to have the server check the player for amount of teamkills or other negative effects on own team, so poeple who just do their job cant get kicked by the default players atleast?

Some ET mods can kick players based on team damage (g_teamDamageRestriction in etpub).

One idea that’s been around before is that the game backs up the claim, for example team killing by presenting some stats for people:

kick playername for team killing (5 tk’s within 2 minutes)

or

kick playername for not playing (stayed in spawn for 4 minutes)

Also for things that can not be backed up by the server, let pepople state the reason so it shows up on the vote. Since a big part of the reason why kick votes doesn’t work is because people don’t know if the reason is valid or what the reason is at all, if the server backs it up when it can that would help a lot. Also if the person hasn’t team killed for example, the server can stop the vote automatically since it’s not a valid reason.

Better yet have the game itself generate the info. e.g. I /callvote kick lanz and the vote comes up as
reyalP called a vote to kick lanz (teamdamage 10000000000000)

Yeah add “Lanz called a vote to”… to my examples and that’s what I meant. You shouldn’t have to specify the type yourself of course. Sure some situations would not be possible for the server to specify a reason for and would perhaps be handled better with a reason from the callvoter.

I just hate when a callvote comes up saying Player x called a vote to kick Player y with no reason at all.

i think it would be better to have a shortened version of all them like (TD20/IDLE12/EXMPL200) beside player voted against
