Dev Stream Wrap Up(18Jul16)

(aminuseternal) #1

Not a whole lot of info was put out in the stream, I missed part of it, and the vod on twitch is incomplete, but it mainly covered the progress on dockyard. The end section, and the side routes have had the most work, designing them to be less angular/straight, but they have been making the map similar to Gallery by having more distinct parts on the map.(I.E. the gallery, the skatepark, or the smokehouse.) Many of the changes were due to snipers dominating(especially in the mid section.)

Trainyard is getting some work focusing on bug fixes, and optimization. So hopefully no more wonky hitbox on the second obj after getting destroyed.

and screen shot time!

I wasn’t able to get any of screens of the beginning parts of the map, and missed parts of the stream, so if anyone else has anything to add please do

omg… The map isnt even done. After 6+ months they didnt finish this map, they focus on the small map that takes less work but NOBODY plays it…

(blonk) #5

If it ends up as beautiful as Gallery I’m happy to wait a little while longer.

I’ve played Gallery as well by the way. I like it.

(frostyvampire) #6

The Stream only lasted ~30 minutes because their hard disc (or hard drive or whatever it’s called) was full. So this is the complete video. Stream was just short

(MilkyBear) #7

Still no sight of Turtle, sigh … welp probably 2017 (not sure if the player base can maintain until that point).

(PleasantWheat) #8

I’m still taking bets on who comes out first between turtle and javelin

(MilkyBear) #9

To be honest, i don’t really mind. But an engineer spot still needs to be filled.

No ‘sea of salt’ comments regarding this dusting system? So did they ignore everyone or just time out the people complaining?

They ignored all of the salty people and others were actually asking legitimate questions like me they answered, stuff like,“Are any changes coming?” and they said they might change a bit about it, stupid that they didnt say much on it as if they dont fix stuff soon, vets are gonna leave

(N8o) #12

The real big news is the fact that I may get my own special piece of paper.

ElectricSheep Dev “Role”-Call incoming, btw.

Players DO understand the crafting system and the credit costs do not compare favorably to the old system in all scenarios, particularly for players who have large inventories of rare cards already and/or players who purchase elite cases.

To hear the only issue with the crafting system is players’ lack of understanding/the way the system was explained is a bit frustrating.

Meh. I more and more read “vets are gonna leave” applied to comments regarding economical and side party subjects like CMM. As far as I know, I see very few actual vets caring about those in particular. Most of the founders and alpha players I know still playing the game mostly play with bronze cards and just profit of their humongous play time to have better bling, and they’d also mostly prefer to have community servers than any sort of matchmaking system, even ranked.

Anyway, I am not that scared about the sluggish progress of this map. Dome was even slower to be released (dome was already on test during summer 2014), so there’s progress anyway.

can’t believe they are actually fixing trainyard !! I always trip on the god dam debris despite I know it’s there lmao

I don’t know if you’d consider me a vet (level 60-ish), but I have left already. To a huge extent because of the game’s development. It’s not that I care about the crafting system in particular, but mostly that with each and every update they screw the community over. They have all the right ideas, but every patch that brings cool new stuff also upsets the community in some way. The way they handle these complaints is ridiculous and almost rude if you ask me (cough ReV).
Also, they can’t tell me they have more than 2 people working on the game anymore. Even I could push out content and updates faster than they do currently (I’m not even joking). I’ve been waiting for a party feature to play together with my friends for … how long? Right, MM is coming “soon” …

They actually said this on stream? That has to be a fucking joke. The same thing they said about the ReV boosters. The only thing you need to understand about the new system is that it’s expensive af and you need to get a big loan of a million credits if you’re gonna have enough to use it. What is there to misunderstand? The way it works?
this is why we need a “WTF” button
(ImSploosh) #18

If the crafting system does not get a major revamp with the correct changes (as in lower prices and making Silver/Gold cards worth something), then I’ll be quitting Dirty Bomb and not shelling out any money for it. I’ve spent $15-$30 so far. It’s not much, but if they ever decide to put things in the game worth spending money on, I definitely would.

But none of that will matter if the crafting system is not fixed. I currently have hundreds of cards just sitting around because I can’t trade anything up with the ridiculous costs. Sure, the game is fun, but this just means worse things are coming and it also means no progression of any kind.

This is one of those times where the best option is to actually listen to fans/players!!!

(RyePanda) #19

Honestly, I’m starting to appreciate the new crafting system. Instead of 9,500 credits for a silver, it’s 5,000 now, and you can get fragments (is that what they’re called?) from higher tier cards (effectively trading down). It’s actually kind of nice now. Sure, the old system worked, and there are scenarios where it’s worse, but It’s not something to quit the game over.

Long story short, they already bored out most of their core community, the ones who spent a lot of time and effort on their prior games, who partially made w:et and et:qw great on their own, even before releasing the game on steam. The scene, even for a closed alpha game, was incredible, in respect of the playerbase at that time. But many left, globally for the same reason you mention, no matter the expectations.
