I play it.
Dev Stream Wrap Up(18Jul16)
Turtle: engineer with useless ability, Fletcher will still be the usual pick
Javelin: another merc with 1 shoot ability with 70s cooldown
i dont get the hype

I thinking making Javelin’s ability 2 shots and maybe adding a second ability would make him a nice merc. 2 shots with the rocket launcher should destroy the EV. But idk, there’s obviously a lot of work to be done to not only make him viable, but balanced.

Turtles sheild at its current state in the games files isnt so useless as u think. ive alread found some good spots to use it. But we know they will nerf the sheild some how like they nerfed aimees camera to something fairly uselsess compaired to vasillis h.b. sensor
@BananaSlug It was more of a joke regarding how merc releases have slowed down to a crawl, not that im complaining. There are rumours that turtle will get the br as his default primary, personally im interested in playing an engi with a little more firepower that isnt an ability. Plus they gave aimees camera a neat little revamp, whos to say the shield wont have a similar thing added to it to make it more viable? Also if Javelin has a fire and forget rocket that you dont have to at least lock on first the community will implode so I doubt thats the road SD will take. They do a lot of dumb things sometimes but I still have faith they will stop being plebs hahaha
The real big news is the fact that I may get my own special piece of paper.
ElectricSheep Dev “Role”-Call incoming, btw.
Warning: it’s a rant against all those rants.
As all of you know it’s a beta. This word can’t explain why there are so many bugs not fixed, but it can explain why there is not a lot of stuff in the game. SD is a little company, they do what they can and can’t do all at the same time.
I personally took a little break from this game, but I’m not quitting like “this game sucks”, it’s more like “I’ll wait 'til new content or event come up”
This game is not dead. This game isn’t even released. Just keep that in mind. When you started to play this (free) game, nowhere it was written “you will have a ton of stuff and the game will be release in 3months”.
They made some choices, not all greats (crafting…) but they made some good work. They’re a team of about 10 devs (maybe I say some bs) and they can’t do the job of a company like blizzard or Activision. I prefer a little company to drive their game like they want, rather than them making a game which is a copy of an existing game because “it works in other games”
I love dirty bomb, it’s a fresh wind in fps games. They can’t just do what the community want because they have a driveway in which they drive the game. They try to do as many things as the community want but sometimes they can’t do it right when you want it.
Maybe try to listen to the community yourself, all people want different things, they do some, they plan others, and they don’t do a few.
If you want to take a break, you can. If you don’t like this game, just don’t play it.
Let the devs drive the game and give some advice. Saying “6months and only 1 map” is not going to help. They know they release few maps, but I prefer few but good ones. Some of you even never play dome. Then why asking for a new map to not play it ?
I know a lot of you like the game and understand devs, but when I see people saying this game is dead and devs are shitting on us, it’s a shame to say that.
I may can understand people who spent money on this game and now are disappointed of the game. You can take a break too. Maybe in 1 month the game will be a pleasure to play again. But don’t force you to play the game if you bored.
And they never force you to spend bucks on it. It’s a beta, sometimes it’s not a good deal because the game goes down, but we are not here atm.
The playerbase is not big, I agree, but imagine if the playerbase is 10 times bigger, all the complains we would have. It’s fine now, you can play without problem a full game. It’s fine for a beta.
Idk if this game will ever go out of beta, but I’m glad I can play it now. They add stuff when they have. They develop the game at their speed because we don’t want a copy of a previous game they made. We want an unique game, and it’s what dirty bomb is.
Tldr:
If you don’t like it, don’t play it
Devs are working hard, they can’t do all you want within a week.
If you don’t enjoy the game now, take a break.
This game is good, then don’t trash it.
It’s a fucking beta, you can’t have a ton of stuff in it
SD is not a big company, remember they have not a ton of devs. They can’t release 1 map/merc every month.
@ClemClem7 A 10-person team can push out more content than 1 map and 1 merc per year, even if they had to design them from scratch. Even a single person could push out more content than that. I really enjoy your optimism, but we all have to accept the fact that the devs are probably working on other projects and only work on DB when there’s some spare time.
@OmaGretel
I don’t want to go through numbers, but I feel like they are doing a nice work.
They released stoker dome and 2 execution maps, then I agree was a lot of waiting time with only thunder and finally Aimee with a lot of event. Now they release a new map and hopefully soon another one.
The maps they release are pretty balanced compared with chapel defender or bridge defender. I feel like they took in consideration the feedback of the community to greatly improve the 2 maps of the test weekend (gallery and dockyard). Even if gallery didn’t change a lot, even some details are important, the ones we don’t see are the most important and the rework of the map, imo, doesnt reflect at all the work they did. Like you say a single Dev can release a ton of maps, but it’s very difficult to balance a map, the less players are on it.
Every designer can make a map, with nice details, but it’s hard to make a playable and enjoyable one. And this is more important the less players are playing on it at the same time.
If you look at Csgo maps, you can see that all choke points are important because it’s a game we can play at 5v5 in ranked.
Remember that a bf4 map is way easier to balance because of 64 players on the map. But on a game where skill do a lot of difference in fight and where only a good player can change the balance, maps are a very hard point to balance in a game like that.
Now if we speak about new mercs, it’s even harder to balance them, and sometimes you need to rebalance the whole roaster of merc to make them balanced when you introduce a new one.
For me, the job they do is very hard. I like to see that they do it right where they could only please the community with unfinished maps and mercs and release a bunch of them.
All work they do is greatly done. Idk the actual size of the game in term of code’s line, but I don’t think it’s light. Then it’s a bit hard to find bugs and correct it. It’s why we are in a beta.
And I don’t think they work on an other project.
Maybe they keep games alives, Idk, but they only develop dirty bomb atm.
@OmaGretel Well they are making the multiplayer content for Gears of War 4, and I dont exactly know the state of it, but I am sure it is taking up a fair amount of dev time
