DEV STREAM Round-Up: 6th January 2016

(Faraleth) #1

Remember, as always, unless specifically stated as confirmed, please take everything with a grain of salt.

Were you aiming to find out something else? Was there something that you’re turtley dying to ask? Check out the FAQ here: http://forums.dirtybomb.nexon.net/discussion/17544/dev-nexon-stream-faq

General:

  • The next merc will not be launched in January.
  • While they are unable to confirm which merc will be next, it’s more than likely we will see the release of Aimee and Turtle before officially unannounced mercs are released.
  • Trading is currently NOT being worked on, because there are other priorities before this gets implemented. One of the main reasons to this is that there is so much back-end work that would be required, that crucial gameplay aspects would barely be touched during the time – right now, they want to nail down all the essential gameplay.
  • Currently you have “at least 1 month” before the first season starts for competitive, so there is still plenty of time to climb the ladder for your trinkets. There is no finalised date for the pre-season yet.
  • There will be ample warning prior to the first competitive season going live.
  • “Aimee could turn into an elephant with 25 miniguns.” - shoe.

Possible Changes/Updates:

  • “There are some good changes coming to competitive.” shoe. later continued to reference the first season – perhaps we will see some changes prior to the first season going live?
  • There have been talks in regards to the community’s concerns with Phantom and his lack of spotting ability, although there are no current announced plans to change him, but it’s under consideration to make him more of a ‘team player’.
  • They have some more ideas for future trinkets, however there are no current announced plans. They want to create some interesting ways in letting users obtain the trinkets, other than just buying them.
  • Trinkets are planned to be cosmetic ONLY. There are no plans to allow them to have any sort of effect on gameplay.

Extra Info:

  • Today was a joint shoe. and Raziel stream!
  • shoe. spent a lot of time talking about sausage meat, and how much he loves it.
  • shoe. wants to shove the sausage meat in his face. - I’m not paraphrasing either.
  • Raziel wished shoe. luck in his sausage meat endeavours.

There are still plenty of places in the DBN Proving Grounds cup, on the 17th January: http://dbn.gg/forums/topic/proving-grounds-2-sign-up/

Don’t you mean until the preseason ends? @Faraleth

(Faraleth) #3

@RyePanda thanks. Corrected :smiley:

Here’s to hoping they fix the bugs that have been in the game for months, or we get more thunder nerfs.

(DMaster2) #5

No new mercs even this month???

(PeneTraitor) #6

Sausage meat trinket confirmed

(DarkMatterMatt) #7

I think that’s good, maps are being worked on (last dev steam roundup) and there are bugs waiting to be fixed. I really really really want the mission refill bug fixed

Talks is an understatement, it’s practically been a debate.

I really do not understand why after so many roundups of him being brought up countless times they haven’t done anything yet or at least teased what they are working on.

(BananaSlug) #9

shoe and his magical sausage

Getting sidetracked by sausage meat of course.

(InfernoKun) #13

I’m holding you to that shoe.

(Sorotia) #14

Now I kind of want some sausage…

There was some talks of the Loadout system too. Despite being brought up often, albeit not nearly as often as trading and other hot-topics, they seem to have no intentions of changing anything in regards of them. Long way down the roadmap, if ever.

Sad for that I really would love to see all this RNG foolery be done right like in TF2  It has core materials, sort of a “downgrade” function (metal) in order to reroll your extra weapons and cosmetics. Secondly, cosmetics and functionality (weapons+perks / skins) are separated, you are never forced feeling with being “stuck” with less-than-desired weapon choice nor buffs if you like a cosmetic, or the otherway round even. Not saying one should copy a design but…for Cthulhu’s sake, if something works why not take inspiration of it.

In my opinion doing something for that would not only ease some hate against RNG currently implemented, but also lay much more stable foundation on flourishing trade function they are seemingly wanting to implement, even if its in somewhat distant future, more earlier than reworking Loadouts. Current system just has so little to offer for trading it seems.

And the grinding of 50k with a result of no new merc this month. Welp, time to buy kira.

(N8o) #17

The round ups seem less and less insightful and useful as time goes on. This isn’t Faraleth’s fault by any means, I just feel like the devs aren’t sharing development with us…

(gg2ez) #18

I have a feeling we’ll get some good news… Soon™

Well, they kind of have to be very politically approaching about stuff and how to say it, if they say something very definite in stream and in the end of the day said stuff never makes it into the game or is very different than “promised”, the outcry will be huge. Human stupidity is endless, even with all the “take everything with a grain of salt” talk some people will think anything said by just one person from a full group of developers is always promise that has to become reality.

I’m with you and your point however, stuff is said in much more vague form now on streams. Could be solely due something we as players can not affect like company policies etc., heck even just some stupid social connection errors on their side. Who knows

Least they’re at least bringing up more questions in the streams now, even if they don’t really answer anything very directly. So at least we can rest assured stuff is noted. Also the way Raziel posts around forums looks a very promising start of more active community managing.

And they do have streams thrice a week now, where as updates come by bi-weekly if even that. So not so much to talk about than same old same old, little by little.
