DEV STREAM Round-Up: 6th January 2016

For those upset that they are not adding a new merc this month, that’s a GOOD thing. They are focusing on the content that’s already there rather than adding more, at least that’s what I hope.

Bring it.
Remember, as always, unless specifically stated as confirmed, please take everything with a grain of salt.

Were you aiming to find out something else? Was there something that you’re turtley dying to ask? Check out the FAQ here: http://forums.dirtybomb.nexon.net/discussion/17544/dev-nexon-stream-faq

General:

 • The next merc will not be launched in January.
 • While they are unable to confirm which merc will be next, it’s more than likely we will see the release of Aimee and Turtle before officially unannounced mercs are released.
 • Trading is currently NOT being worked on, because there are other priorities before this gets implemented. One of the main reasons to this is that there is so much back-end work that would be required, that crucial gameplay aspects would barely be touched during the time – right now, they want to nail down all the essential gameplay.
 • Currently you have “at least 1 month” before the first season starts for competitive, so there is still plenty of time to climb the ladder for your trinkets. There is no finalised date for the pre-season yet.
 • There will be ample warning prior to the first competitive season going live.
 • “Aimee could turn into an elephant with 25 miniguns.” - shoe.

Possible Changes/Updates:

 • “There are some good changes coming to competitive.” shoe. later continued to reference the first season – perhaps we will see some changes prior to the first season going live?
 • There have been talks in regards to the community’s concerns with Phantom and his lack of spotting ability, although there are no current announced plans to change him, but it’s under consideration to make him more of a ‘team player’.
 • They have some more ideas for future trinkets, however there are no current announced plans. They want to create some interesting ways in letting users obtain the trinkets, other than just buying them.
 • Trinkets are planned to be cosmetic ONLY. There are no plans to allow them to have any sort of effect on gameplay.

Extra Info:

 • Today was a joint shoe. and Raziel stream!
 • shoe. spent a lot of time talking about sausage meat, and how much he loves it.
 • shoe. wants to shove the sausage meat in his face. - I’m not paraphrasing either.
 • Raziel wished shoe. luck in his sausage meat endeavours.

There are still plenty of places in the DBN Proving Grounds cup, on the 17th January: http://dbn.gg/forums/topic/proving-grounds-2-sign-up/

 • Faraleth
so basically…

Honest question; does anyone even care about “trinkets”?

They have almost zero visual impact compared to a character or weapon cosmetic, yet energy is actually spent on them. Am I missing something crucial?

I can help you with that

Trading requires a lot of, a lot of, a lot of work and we can’t afford that because our team consists of ten people. So unless we abandon all other work, you won’t see trading in the game. If you don’t want to see new maps and mercs in 2016, we can give you trading instead trololololol.
