General:

  • The first ranked season will begin sometime next week when the next update is pushed live
  • Everyone’s rank will be compressed on the new season beginning.
  • Everyone will have to play the 10 matches in order to place and your new starting rank may be higher or lower than your current one
  • Seasons will be approximately be 3-4 months. They cannot announce the specific date just yet, due to needing to get things ready before season 2 as times may fluctuate.
  • Trinkets obtained from pre-season rewards will be kept permanently. You do not need to worry about losing them!
  • They “have some ideas” for other medics at a later date, but are currently focused on recons and engineers due to those classes lacking in mercs compared to the others.
  • There are no plans to remove the jump spread for jump-sniping. The reason for this is because jump sniping is frustrating to play against because you almost never see it coming and counter play is very important in competitive FPS
  • It is very unlikely we will ever see a straight-up TDM or Deathmatch gamemode in Dirty Bomb, because all mercs have abilities, and one of those abilities is people being better at objectives. This means any future gamemodes would definitely have some element of an objective in it.
  • Sadly Dirty Bomb will likely never be available on Linux.

Possible Changes/Updates:

  • They will be looking at lot at Thunder, Fletcher and Sparks in the upcoming weeks in regards to fixing, balancing and tweaking.
  • The double health-pack bug on Sparks is a high priority to fix and is the same issue as double ammo packs, proxy mines, etc.
  • Fletcher may receive an AoE damage decrease, but will definitely retain his direct stick damage. This punishes the spam potential, but rewards accuracy and timing.
  • A potential fix could include tweaking reducing the number of stickies along with the cooldown, but they need to wait to see how the secondary changes affect him
  • 5-man, 4-man and 3-man pre-mades in ranked play will no longer be able to queue. You will only be able to queue solo or as a duo.
  • People should now be moving up and down ranks nearly twice as fast as they did previously.
  • In season 2 they may consider allowing team vs. team, however this is not ideal right now due to long queue times and unfair matches.
  • Also for season 2, they are considering the “1 of each merc, per team” in some kind of drafting system. They will likely allow mirror though, due to smaller merc pool.
  • Ranks will be getting the names: Recruit, Agent, Specialist, Officer and Master to replace the 5 numbers per rank, due to confusion between 1 and 5, not knowing which is higher or lower.
  • “Phantom love? No… Phantom redesign? Yes.”
  • They do not want to “buff” Phantom, simply because of how annoying he is to play against, so improving his power potential would be horrible for counter-play. They want to make him LESS of an “asshole assassin” and more of a team-player.
  • If the PDP is still vastly overpowered, they are considering slowing down its rate-of-fire as the next aspect to tweak.
  • There are still a few tweaks they want to make in regards to trading in same-merc cards before the feature gets pushed live again

Cool, seems I won’t be playing MM at all next season. I play that to get away from all the idiots and to play with people I know.

Its gonna be lovely getting retards in your team… I though i am gonna make a little brake until season 2 or new merch but holly shit, there is no reason to come back -.-
Pubs are shit and boring and now they wanna make ranked to feel like pubs also (where half the team doesn’t knwo or care what to do) …

Wow this all sounds great, but… I dont think that people will be playing comp more than now. I dont know why you couldnt que as full team of 5, it will destroy clan system, but hey, maybe its better for balance.

Solid stuff for us who’re unable to watch the stream, kudos!

Looking upto this ranked change, since 3-5 mate premades can still hop into Discord/TS and attempt to arrange pugs/scrims. With this upcoming ranked change, I guess there could be more activity there once solo/duoQ is forced. Just hoping that the ELO will actually rank people better now, since this Bronze farce now… Ugh. Good test nevertheless, since this is not permanent change. And for the record I’ve played ranked solely with 5 man premade till now.

I really hoped they’d promised to look into Vassili along with mercs mentioned above too, due his changed being heavily discussed raged of. Not that it wouldn’t be highly plausible even that they do since there have been tons of merc balance changes in past that have not been mentioned/hinted beforehand, but least it’d have saved us from least densest doomsday callers going “No buffs for Vassili? Uninstall” in the comment section below.

Was there any estimation for next update, this week or the next?

I hope there will be another way to play with >2 friends? The game is about teamplay, and it is lovely to play with your friends over skype / ts etc. I understand that 5 premades versus 5 individuals is unfair, but that ought to be fixed in the matchmaking. Like only matching 5 premades against 5 premades. Not by restraining the amount of premades to 2?

I guess you have thought of an alternative, because I do not think many teams will like this.

@DadoPeja I think you’re missing the point of the change… it’s to make more people available to match-making and decrease the team stomps. The point the match-making is to put people of your own skill with you. (ie. A gold is not going to be playing with a bronze team) :confused:

It’s like they’re actively trying to kill ranked. The problem here is a lack of players above anything else. Launch a big ad campaign, give more incentives to play ranked, you have a great game that wants to be played, don’t just go “oh well I guess we simply can’t get enough players for proper 5vs5 ranked matches”.

I dunno what part of the “In season 2 they may consider allowing team vs. team” some people don’t get. It doesn’t seem like a permanent change, and as long as it won’t be permanent, it’s better to give it a try at least.

I still don’t understand why they removed 5 man queuing. Ok, I suppose I get that removing 3 and 4 man queuing to make better matches. But leave 5 man! 5 man teams should play other 5 man teams and not randoms, and randoms play randoms. Why would they take Ranked play out of Ranked? We’re basically going to be playing pubs with a queue now.

Also, regarding Vasilli and Jump Sniping…you guys can’t lie, that is true. Fighting a Vasilli who’s doing that is frustrating for sure, but then again, why the hell do we still have sway? Can a Vasilli not corner peak either anymore?

Here is the thing with the Vassili nerf. 9/10 Vassilis you see are low levels wanting to be a sniper which means they are absolutely terrible. When they get the odd jump shot on you round a corner I find it pretty hilarious rather than irritating due to the fact that he will probably finish the round with 1/25 k/d anyway.

Yet a Fragger on the otherhand can do the exact same thing with a frag grenade as he can just cook it jump round the corner and immediately kill you with it. Yet Vassili is classed as irritating but the exact same issue with Fragger is absolutely fine?

Doesn’t really make sense to me SD :neutral:
