UI:
- The UI/menu in Dirty Bomb is an extension which emulates a browser like Google Chrome, meaning the Unreal Engine 3 can power things such as a store-front and a variety of menus.
- They will NOT do another unavoidable pop-up UI feature in the future like the “What The Dickens” trinket hunt timer. The reason it was done this way was because they wanted to ensure players were able to track progress and were pressed for time to get it out/release prior to Christmas.
- The reason in-game options and main menu options are different, is because the in-game options use Scaleform, while main menu options use the Coherent UI, which is what the main menu is constructed from.
- The “slow UI” is being looked into, and some causes are known. These will be worked upon in an attempt to speed up the UI.
- They are working on a way to review past matches, as match history is stored on the backend, but the data isn’t accessible from the front-end right now.
Possible Changes/Updates:
- There will be a bug-fix/hotfix update going out before the main January update
- They “want to tweak” how the quick-join functionality works in the game. No further details on this right now.
- Trinkets will be receiving some “refinements”. There is no specific information on this yet.
- In a future update, cases can be opened immediately without the opening animation. (This is optional)
- There will be small notifications in regards to the cards dropped to stream-line card opening and the menu itself.
- Cases dropped from matches will be able to be opened in a match lobby.
- You will also be able to open MULTIPLE cases at once in a future update.
- There is a focus on spectator bug fixes and tweaks coming in the near future.
- MG’s should have some improvements in the future, as they have been worked on to making them “less buggy”.
- They are STILL tracking the “11/12, 13/14 players in a server” bug, which won’t allow the final person to join. Sadly, they are still unsure of what actually causes the issue.
Extra Info:
- Guest: Ducks - UI Programmer / Software Engineer
- Useless fact: Ducks is actually called Dave.
- Ducks is also the original creator of the Counter Strike map, de_dust, de_cbble, de_dust2, de_tides, de_sienna_cz…
- Faraleth

Not by the sounds of it.
He was a level designer for a long time, even making Bridge and Chapel for Dirty Bomb ^^ But, he now does UI and programming… my guess would be, because it pays more.
