DEV STREAM Round-Up: 11th January 2016

If they cared or had any common sense, the pop-up window would have came up maybe only when you login to the game + there would have been a small progress bar somewhere in the UI like… idk… under level progress bar.
It was done that way so that users could keep an eye on their progress. Having to log in and out just to check would have been even more tedious. It was done during the pre-Christmas crunch for the update; I’m not really sure why you feel they would have any reason to lie about this.

What on earth would make you think that?
That’s what they said about buying multiple equipment cases… … maybe this will be a thing only for expert and elite cases since you need to give Nexon and SD money for basic convenience.
Inb4 charging for server browser
I agree it’s annoying we can’t buy multiple equipment cases at once, but opening multiple cases at once applies to ALL case types.

Actually, that’s wrong. The Coherent UI and Scaleform menus were made at different times in the games development cycle. The reason the Scaleform one does not match the Coherent UI one is because of the graphical changes and game changes since it was made. Thus the only way to get the options to match up is by using the same one – for example, they will likely get Coherent UI working in the in-game menu. However, getting Coherent UI to work in the live gameplay isn’t as simple and clicking your fingers.

I hope this helps clear up some of the concerns you have.

I meant that the pop-up window itself would only appear when you log in “+ there would have been a small progress bar somewhere in the UI like… idk… under level progress bar.”

Idk… coughequipment casescough

but opening multiple cases at once applies to ALL case types.

Equipment cases suggests otherwise and therefore I’ll be cynical about it.

In regards to the progress bar, they said they just didn’t have the time to implement a proper bar widget, embedded in the main menu UI.

They have absolutely no reason to lie about this - the pre-Christmas crunch is always hard for game studios. Could you say it was a little lazy? Absolutely. But they weren’t lying.

(Gung-ho) #24
Remember, as always, unless specifically stated as confirmed, please take everything with a grain of salt.

[*] They are STILL tracking the “11/12, 13/14 players in a server” bug, which won’t allow the final person to join. Sadly, they are still unsure of what actually causes the issue.

Finally good to see some acknowledgement of this issue. I believe there is more than one cause for the bug and I believe one cause is a player not disconnecting properly whether in the game proper or was joining and the join process somehow failed (a possible culprit being joining whilst map changing where it does go through the join process but later kicks you out as alternative to receiving an error message about server not accepting new connections or the other similar one).

In this situation it is in someway an extension of another bug where a “bad” disconnect causes a player to still be shown as connected to the server when inspecting server details from the server browser. If a player triggers this bug the server will consider them connected to the server even if they are not - the main difference is that the name is visible as well as the player count when looking at the server from the server browser but when you join that player is not actually there.

The result is the same where the server will not go beyond 11/12 etc as visible by players in-game however the browser will show it as 12/12. Ergo an extension of this bug is that name is hidden but the server still considers them as connected or connecting - at least that’s my theory.

I’m wrong because it seems so obvious/logical that SD must have already investigated that possibility and ruled it out though.

To be honest this is a much bigger issue than the Dickens timer bar crap as this bug is one of, if not the biggest game play/quality influencing bug that still exists. Personally this bug should be public enemy number 1 - higher than UI improvements and higher than the audio hang/loop bug.

…meh, good enough for me (even tho it would be nice if they did something right for once)
Even tho it would have been nice to know this in the first place instead of getting some bs about “how getting a pop-up window every time you enter the main menu is convenient”.

(MTLMortis) #26

Couple of questions for the devs:

 1. Why does the XP bar not show how much to next level?

 2. Why do you have received a new item remain in the avatar drop down after I’ve opened it.

 3. What is the point of showing new item on avatar drop down from main menu?

 4. Why do we not see if we are attacker/defender when joining a match?

 5. Why can we not immediately join a spawn wave upon entering a server if we click fast enough? This is especially necessary for execution match modes when joining a losing/down a person team.

 6. Pineapple juggler is still there. Seriously?
7. You can see how much you need to level up at the end of every match.

 8. what?

 9. eh?

 10. It use to, but the change that a few patches ago.

 11. In Execution you need to start at the beginning of the round… In the rest dosen’t realy matter.

 12. Totally agree with you. XD
13. Progress should able to be tracked outside where everything else is.

 14. You end a match and get a case. You exit the game, click items, cases and open the case. Go back to the main screen. there’s a red 1 on your avatar, click avatar “you have received a new item: case” <-- which was from the end of that match

 15. Why even show it under avatar when it’s right there on the ITEMS tab, repeat and unnecessary, though probably because the 2 menus are completely unlinked. <-- kinda dumb if true, but I don’t know the reasoning for implementing both.

 16. Yeah I know, it needs to be changed back.

 17. Yes, I realize that we need to enter at the start of a round. But I enter the server, have a huge countdown AFTER I have locked in. I should be able to click lock-in and go minus whatever timer is needed to load the map.

 18. Yes, dumbest ability ever. Sounds good at 3 am after beers and shots of tequila just not in practice.
