A new version of my map is released, if no major bugs are found its maybe the final. Here’s my readme:

Map info:

Axis:

You have to destroy the 75mm ammonution storage, located in the
Allied Base, at the top left tower. Before you can enter the base,
you have to blow up some walls:

The West Wall
The Side gate
The Main gate
The wooden gate

Both main gate and wooden gate are constructable, so make sure you
blow up the other walls first.

Allies:

Your objective is to destroy the communication system of the Axis,
wich is located in the center tower of the base. Entering it won't
be easy, since you have to blow up:

The Main Gate
The Sewer entrance
The Side wall
The garage door

Good luck soldier

How to install:

Place the .pk3 file in your /etmain directory. Example: C:/games/Wolfenstein - Enemy Territory/etmain.
Don't create other folders.

Fixed in 0.2:

-Added extra spawnpoints
-Added some extra mg at bunkers
-Fixed wall jump bug
-New command map
-Selectable spawns
-Custom image
-New thumbnail
-Added a garage with ammo/health cabinets
-Fixed the fan (Its now rotating ;) )
-Added some lights and plants
-Redone the Axis base a little bit
-More optimazed fps

Tonight/ tomorrow il post some screenies :stuck_out_tongue:

looks great man. i cant wait too see what kind of maps you’ll be making in the future

Custom maps are getting better and better.
I’m going to find a server that plays that map !!

Bravo !

I’ve noticed fews things :

(Lockeownzj00) #11

I HIGHLY suggest renaming it to beta2. Servers will get confused, and you won’t know which is old version or not. Seriously.

(DeAtHmAsTeR) #12

erm also

this is a great map - but there is a huge open bit in the middle - inbetweem forward spawn point
and there are some bugs

plus things are a little blocky

try to use visual references - look at buildings/stones in oasis

thx for the feedback, and its already called beta 2. Also, i have been trying hours and hours to fix some of those black spots, but i just can’t.
And about the ladders, gotta fix that. Also that walljump, tought i already fixd that one 2. The sewer, i’l try, but otherwise it’s very hard to move trough.

I think that ET expects the map file to have the same name as the pk3 file. Consequently, when you name the mapfile desertfortress.bsp, the name of the pk3 file must be desertfortress.pk3, the problem, obviously, is that when you finally release desertfortress it’s going to be named desertfortress.pk3. When I update my server, the new file will have the same file name as the old file. When a client connects to the server it says, “yes! I have the desertfortress.pk3 file!” and neither the server nor the client bothers to check whether it is the right version of the file on the client side. The result can be most disurbing and the only solution is for the client (all those players) to manually delete the .pk3 file from their etmain folder. Better solutions would be:

  1. ET designer’s to implement an MD5 check of the map before it runs, if it fails, download the map on the server side (maybe this is not what we want if we are talking about the original maps?)
  2. Map designers should properly name their maps, like:
    desertfortress_v101.bsp
(if you unpack the pk3 file you will find that its name is desertfortress.bsp)

i’ll try to do that, but i’m not sure if i’m possible again. Some virus attacked my pc, and now i prably have to format it again :banghead: :bash:  . But maybe there’s a solution, otherwise i’ll start on a new map :frowning: .

(ziege) #16

Formatting is a bit of a drastic measure, why not just clean ur comp with anti-virus? You can reinstall Windows if it’s needed and keep all the same settings. At least backup everything before formatting if you really need to resort to that.

(lennyballa) #17

Well, if i can’t start up my pc again it’s kinda hard to use anti-virus. But, i can use that bsp–>map converter  . Feedback about my map is welcome, i don’t have much things about “your map rules”, i like that, but i prefer feedback to make the map better :stuck_out_tongue:

It is most likley you were attacked by the MSBLAST.EXE virus which crashes your PC and turns it off.

If it was this virus
pm me
and i have a method to get your system back to normal

Download the trial version of Norton Anti-virus if you have broadband.

(ziege) #19

If it was MSBlast, all u need to do is turn on the XP firewall or update/patch Windows. But you said you can’t even turn it on so I guess it isn’t that.

Why not just take the HDD out and put it into the PC you’re using now?

(DeAtHmAsTeR) #20

it will obviously be the HDD which is infected - duh - moving the HDD to a new PC will keep all the data.
