Im trying to view a demo for et that I recently downloaded from et center and I put it into my demo folder to view it in ET and I get this error message “etpro_teaminfo: bits == 0”
Is there a way to fix that?
And is there another way to view demos other than ET itself? Im not sure how to do it, Ive read that you can do it but I forgot where that was.
demo viewing
play it back with etpro, you must
add +set fs_game etpro to your ET shortcut or join a etpro server, go back to the menu and play back the demo…
One of the problems with demo playback is that the .dll/.so files for the version of a mod that a demo is recorded on might not be the same as the version of the server you last played on. ET will extract the cgame and ui DSOs for the appropriate version when you connect to a server, but not when you play back a demo.
The net result of this is that, if you play on e.g. an etpro 2.1.0 server, and then try to play back an etpro 3.1.0 demo, the demo will be played back using the etpro 2.1.0 gamecode. While etpro in particular is reverse compatible all the way back to etmain (so that EDV can be used even with etmain demos), forward compatibility is quite a lot trickier to accomplish.
The best way to avoid problems is to always extract the .dll or .so files from the newest .pk3 you have of whatever mod you’re trying to play back demos in.
