None, nowadays.

–I remember when the term DLC didn’t exist for FPS games. Instead, terms like “map pack”, “bonus pack” and “patch X.XX” where used to identify what is currently being called DLC nowadays, except all this stuff was free back then (if you don’t count it being released into Gold/Editor’s Choice Editions of the game in retail stores).

–Further, still, I can even remember when the only fee you’d be charged for DLC was a fee for gaining EARLY access to the content, usually like 1 or 2 months. I really wish that all of today’s multiplayer shooter DLC was like this, as it would help to combat the playerbase fracturing that usually occurs with many of these FPS games of late.

I really do commend Splash Damage for releasing this first DLC for free.

agreed

really be patient it comes when it comes. its free, and if they said june we still have 8 more days. if it comes later it probably comes out better than it would have been if it came out earlier

What are we getting though?
2 new maps…whoop…dee…freaking…doo
5 new perks…again, WOW, just WOW
and one(1) new outfit per side
and also a couple fixes that may or may not make the guns balanced, the body types more accurate, and the game, in general, worth giving a **** about.

TRY and tell me you’d pay more than a dollar for that crap. So we all get a new level cap, who cares? We’ll all get to level 24 and then…we can delete and start over or what? What’s the fun in that? In COD you get maybe 5 maps, but hey…you can play those five maps in like 15 different modes, with up to 18 players, CONSISTENTLY…EVERY day and night since those games have been released. On battlefield you can get a solid 24 person game on the 360 three nights out of the week, without the online forum community organizing it. Brink barely has that. Say I don’t want to play with the geeks on here, and instead want to find a game of randoms on, say, competition? Nope. Won’t happen.

Buying a 30 dollar game for 60 dollars and having free dlc is like buying a 10 dollar cup of lemonade and getting a free straw.

I heard that Splash Damage will definitely be releasing before the month is up. They are going to finish up just in time to go out and see the new transformers movie together.

hahahaha!!!

I hope people aren’t getting their hopes up with the DLC like most of us did with the release of the game itself

(riptide) #48

Why not lol… I’m not gonna lie. I’ve got my hopes up but it’s also the last chance I’ll give this game. I don’t care about the DLC itself but rather the fixes and other implementations that may or may not come with it.

My friend and I followed Brink for a year before it came out. When it released, I bought two copies: one for myself and one for my son (we each have our own 360). My friend convinced his brother and next-door neighbor to buy it as well. I was so psyched for this game that I took the week of the 10th off from work so I could stay home and play all day. My friend did the same.

For reasons that have been discussed to death here, all of us stopped playing. I was the last holdout, but I haven’t played in a couple of weeks. Last week I traded my son’s copy in at Gamestop for credit, so now I’m down to just one copy. My friend’s brother and neighbor traded their copies in as well.

My friend and I are holding out for this DLC to see if the game will be saved. We won’t be able to convince those who traded in their copies already to come back, but we’re willing to give it a shot. However, if this gets dragged out too long, we may just trade our copies in now before their trade-in value plummets further.

I’ll say this: if the DLC doesn’t revive this community, and can’t keep players like me around–players who were taking vacation time to play the game and promoting it to everyone we spoke to–then it’ll die before the summer’s end. And I really don’t want that, but at the same time, nothing about this DLC screams, “Game-changing content that will make Brink everything you hoped it would be.”
