Tonight I was feeling curious, and for some reason I clicked Host Game and did a dedicated server over the internet. ET closed out and a consle opened, etc. I have a question… does the server actually display itself over the internet? I have a feeling I should be paying someone for a server or something. I closed it out after a couple minutes, so I couldn’t tell if anyone would connect or now.
If it really was an internet server that I made that would be neat. 
Yep when you click dedicated its broadcasted to the master server which broadcasts it to peoples game browsers ase, gamespy, ingame browser etc. which means anyone can join it. But dont get too excited cause unless you have a pretty hefty connection you wont be able to host more than 4 or 5 people.
Can you observe from a dedicated server? I know you can’t play, but can you spec?
No. A dedicated server runs in nothing but the small console box that appears quickly (loading things, dlls, pks whatever) when you open the game icon.
