Although it would seem like trick jumper and bunnyhopper are a considerable part of the gaming community… I think their the bored ones who spend more time finding game flaws alone, scripting and overall wasting their time instead of playing the game the way it should be. It also happens that these people who are 90% of their time doing something to the game instead of playing it, spend their time screwing up the game and spend even more time on the forums (Which is why they seem numerous). They also happen to make alot of videos out of boredom or ego which is another factor to why they seem numerous.
Death of bunnyhopping ?
Pet peave time. Trick jumping is NOT an artifact of the q3 engine. It’s an artifact of the Q3 gamecode Many Q3 based games have very different movement systems, some which allow trick jumping and some which do not. This of course supports your second point, that those game which have it left it in by choice.
AKA Sneaky:
I don’t know why you associate trick jumping with scripting. Very little interesting tricking can be done with a script, and most scripting is simply a matter of making cumbersome or inconvenient actions (like weapon and spawn point selection) more convenient.
I’m hoping you’re just refering to ET. If not, then i’d seriously beg to differ
Another fun demo

I suppose it is pretty cool. I just don’t like the fact that to improve my game I would need to master the technique of jumping around like some crazy bunny. Just kind of takes me out of the immersion. I would rather the depth be brought in through other aspects of the game.
Yes I was You can even script some tricky stuff in ET, but most ET tricking I’ve seen doesn’t depend on scripting.
From Kevin Cloud in the new Yahoo interview:
The bots will taunt you. Sometimes you’ll notice some guys might bunny hop to try to get a little speed. The bots might do that.
That’s more like it. Very good news
Bunny Hoping is just as much a part of FPS fast paced shooters as turning and burning is in flight sims…if you want hardcore realism go to ArmA or something of the sort…i prefer not having my movement restricted since it feels like a much more freeing experience than running around feeling like my character has freakin rocks in his pants (bf2, 2142)
I understand how frustrating it can be though when your in a 1vs1 dual with someone and they start hopping around like rabbits but hey…if you can’t beat em…join em
