why did u guys say u would NEVER add new game modes like ctf and tdm? :[ ur killing the game in my honest opinion

i’ll promote brink on my youtube channel with nearly 2000 SUBSCRIBERS if u add some game modes other than ’ campaign multiplayer ’

(N2L Overweight) #2

NO just NO
***** TDM in brink
if you wanna play tdm crap go play cod please

EDIT: not hating on cod (play it myself)

(naedae) #3

yea ok… i assume u wanna play the single player disguised as mp all day huh? thts why i doubt this game will last…

(zerorawr) #4

This game was designed with only objective based team play in mind. Adapt or get out.

(riptide) #5

Personally I’m not opposed to CTF and they could please the CTF crowd easily with objectives. I’d probably like it as an option. But TDM is not something I would be happy to see, it just doesn’t fit the style of the game. It also goes against the audience they want to appeal to.

Brink doesn’t have CTF or TDM because that is not the core aspect of the game, or series. If it did, it would be a bad CoD knockoff that tons of people would play, solely for CTF/TDM, and the objective servers would dry up.

After that, you know what happens? Everyone goes back to CoD, because it was meant to be played that way.

So, no. No TDM/CTF.

If the community decides to create maps along the lines of Bacerace, which is this series’ style of CTF, then I’ll be all for it. But if it’s nothing like baserace, and just mind numbing CTF or TDM that’s been around for 16 friggin years, then no. I am wholly against it.

I do, actually. I really do want to play a single player game that’s entirely populated with other, live players. That’s why W:ET and ET:QW were so freaking beastly great.

I played CTF in Quake for ages. I don’t need it to be in Brink, too.

(PillowTalk) #7

TDM is never going to happen directly from the dev. It’s not what this game is about.

Not that I wouldn’t occasionally play on servers modded with TDM. Sometimes, you just want to frag, ya know?

(Norb) #8

TDM wouldnt work on this, other game types like CTF may work quite well but I cant see it myself.

THey jsut need to add in more stories for you to do kinda like Left For Dea added in extra chapters this game could do alot more

‘‘What If?’’ missions think that would add alot more to do.

I do see your point tho of getting bored quickly of the few that are on here now so bring on the DLC and fast haha

(MisterAngry) #9

No TDM… Maybe CTF.

A Brinkified CTF perhaps. Both teams have intel behind/inside something that can be hacked or bombed, add in shortcuts that can be created by engineers that will make it easier to access enemy intel.

Whatever is holding the intel can be fixed by engineers too.

A Brinkified CTF perhaps.[/QUOTE]

Perhaps. Like I said, Bacerace.

Anything else would be a disaster for brink, unless it comes in the form of community maps.

Baserace =

Two symmetrical (or asym, possibly) maps, spawn with multiple flags on either side of the map, and the basic frame of a symplistic base surrounding the map.

Objective = Run to enemy base, steal, objective(Flag), run it back to your base. There are multiple delivery points. Each delivery point provides a different constructible part of the map to become available, with MG nests, barbed wired fences, solid stone walls, and command posts becoming constructible and upgradeable.

It’s basically Magic Carpet, or Age of Empires, except a first person shooter MP/SP mix.

Awesome? Awesome. Gtfo regular ctf.

(Kairus) #11

Sure, send me $500.

(EnderWiggin.DA.) #12

Trying not to be closed minded. What about a Jailbreak type of map (one map only). Not as a plot type, but as a gametype. You kill a member of the other team and they go to jail but can be released by any other member of their team that is free. The goal is to get the entire other team in jail.
Played in in W:ET. It wasn’t a mod, just a single map.
Oh, and a baserace map would rock. Although I preferred the original, simpler beta versions over the final version. Less rocket spam.

(SphereCow) #13

See, an odd idea like that would fit into Brink far more than bace CTF would.

Remember that weird freaking map Password 2? Allies had to steal the password from the heavily guarded room, then manually enter it in on big f*** off buttons in the obj room? Axis could reset pass unless allies was also defending the reset button upstairs!

Now that’s a creative map that belongs in Brink.

Please, no more CTF. Not here, anyway.

(Shadedluck) #14

Could you guys please remember that CTF with PARKOUR would be hell? All they have to do is get around one corner and they’ve captured it. TDM they stated that it would already never be in there, so please, stop asking. CTF is a LITTLE bit more reasonable, but the story is supposed to be played out in each level. You can’t put a friendly game of CTF in an objective based multiplayer game. It just won’t happen. Although, if you are on PC, I’m sure there will be a game mod for CTF and others very very soon.

(Codine) #15

No no and no. If we turn this game into a dm or ctf spamfest everybody will just go medic. It will not be fun at all.

Brink and ET has always been known for its objective game play and I’m glad they’re staying true to that.

(mortis) #16

CTF = easily accoomplished with a custom map. Get to work. TDM = so 1999…

(mortis) #17

Sorry, I’m in a contrary mood today…

(weeschwee) #18

brink could really benefit from a capture the point mode seen in tf2. one point (or more) per team close to each team’s base and then a center point. the middle point must be captured to progress to the opposing team’s base capture point. this would allow for long matches where it isn’t solely progress or lose. there would be a constant struggle back and forth between the two factions and of course health and supply stations would make for great strategic opportunities. it kind of strikes a balance between tdm and super objective play. there is an even greater struggle, but time is not as restrictive so you can focus on killing a little more than just completing objectives you don’t care about. and in the end it is still all about your team winning.

I think it’s good they are sticking to the objective based gameplay instead of tacking on TDM and becoming another COD knockoff. There is actually already some sort of spin on CTF in Brink as it stands. Except you have to take the briefcase to a certain point and interact rather than running back to your own base. I just think these gamemodes would ruin what Brink is all about.

(SockDog) #20

Some points.

[ul]
[li]Inclusion of other modes doesn’t mean you have to play them
[/li][li]Other modes do not have to use the entire toolset of Brink (classes, maps, objectives etc)
[/li][li]Other modes do not need to be vanilla copies, they can be Brinkified to make them both unique but familiar
[/li][li]Official modes are more likely to be played that multiple mods or half mods
[/li][li]Challenges are a very big opportunity to fill these expectations while leaving the core game as is. I think the Parkour challenge is a potential opener for a bigger Defrag type mode
[/li][/ul]
