Deadline ?

So my question is about the time you estimate to open this game to the public (open beta). I know the game it’s not ready to go, and this is why I ask you this : When did you think to open the gates ? 1 month ? 6 month ? a year ? Can you give us just some info about this ? even if it’s just a vague answer

ps : please no “when it’s done” sentence … some real info ! Money rules the world and you don’t have unlimited time or money to develop your game. So you already have an estimation of this.

I think they don’t really have a date in mind because they never thought that the alpha/beta would take so long. And that xt is f2p they have to deliver a good, solid game because just with downloading they don’t make any money. They need to keep all players interested, keep a high retention rate. The player figures clearly show that the retention rate is close to 0. In the current state, they wouldn’t make $$$ Also they are reworking the hit detection etc so I would guess that we will have at least half a year of closed beta in front of us. And I hope they learned from the mistake pushing xt too fast into beta and inviting more ppl

Probably at the very end of this year. But with the current progression speed I think that’s way too less time.

Also I think there is no fixed release date planned. So you can cry out loud like you want, but when SD doesn’t know the date how could they name one? The game will be released when they are happy about the core features.

Let SD answer on this please. There is a “budget or plan” for developing a game, that’s a society. there is people to pay and time is money. Even if SD is a cool bunch of “programmers / arty / gamers / fun(or not)” guys (and girls) who want the best product they can made, there is some limits !

So my questions are :
what is your limit SD ?
Are you plenty of money and time, or at some point you will rush the game ?
How long did you plan for dev ?
Does it take longer than you think ?
Do we have to wait another year ?

I hope some sort of answer … will see

BomBaKlaK just take a look at the game and answer the question for yourself.

Before HL3 releases

Oh, and I would really advise SD not to tell any game release date specifics here because we have a user called like a snack who posts stuff from here which is clearly marked as Do Not Discuss This else than here at Nexon forums.

Honestly, it won’t go public until we (and our business partners) feel it’s ready.

Obviously it can’t take forever so at some point we may have to just go for it and see, but we’re not at that stage yet

Sorry that’s not more concrete

(tokamak) #10

That’s actually much more reassuring than a set date Smooth.

The only thing I’m afraid of is that Extraction is starting to become, well, really ‘intimate’. It’s a small setting, small teams, short fights. I’m a bit nervous about how that compares to the big guns out there. The Battlefields and whatever big and nasty is waiting to yet be unleashed. Titanfall maybe, or the next generation of MMO’s which include FPS.

Rather than racing against publisher’s deadlines, you’re now raising to an exceedingly climbing standard.

(Kl3ppy) #11

I think it’s an opportunity. All are going big and xt will be a nice small shooter

I’m OK with this, much better than a quick rush to finish the game. (That’s what I’m afraid of).
This is more or less a question to have some info about the state of the game, cause you already push for the closed beta and for me this is still at the alpha stage. I don’t want a half finished game and I’m glad to know you are in the same mood. I’m not looking for a fix release date, just some info about the time we need to wait. If I need to wait 1 more year it’s not a problem for me just want to know.

(Smooth) #13

The main thing to bear in mind is that unlike every other game we’ve made, core development definitely doesn’t stop on release/open beta.

Previously we were limited to patches and DLC but this time there’s going to be constant iteration and new content for as long as the game is viable.

This is due to the business model being much more long-term with the game being F2P and all.
…core development definitely doesn’t stop on release/open beta.
The Core …First time players could judge the game on release and not come back if the Core doesnt fall in their expectation.Unless I dont understand the Core definition (movement mechanic ??)

(Smooth) #15

Well we definitely don’t want a bad first impression, but the point I’m trying to make is that this game can evolve much more after release than the typical boxed products we’ve done in the past.

(BomBaKlaK) #16

Yeah I understand this since the beginning of the alpha, but we are talking about the “Open beta” or the first public release.
The moment when we can invites friends to play with and rent some dedicated servers. I mean this point.

(Erkin31) #17

Anyway, this year seems the good moment to release the game. There are not a lot of FPS (multiplayer) which will be released.
Titan fall is just a call of duty which some advanced movements. I think that Dirty Bomb could easily use this lack of big FPS multiplayer.

If they fixed it… sure. But right now, no. Too much wrong with XT.

(Kl3ppy) #19

What is core development? Movement/Gunplay? Or do you mean with core development to make new maps/guns/mods etc?

(Mustang) #20

My guess would be “stuff Dann does”.
