Damage view kick

(shinigamimeijin) #1

i’ve looked around and couldn’t find an answer.
is this in brink ?

(Ajax's Spear) #2

Could you elaborate? I’m not sure what “damage view kick” is…

(shinigamimeijin) #3

basically its a mechanic where when you get shot or damaged in certain ways your gun will kick wildly.

(system) #4

The rest of the world calls it recoil.

(shinigamimeijin) #5

no recoil is when you shoot
DVK is when you get damaged

(tokamak) #6

There will probably be a little of it. ETQW has it but not as severe as say, COD.

(Bullveyr) #7

Hopefully it will be minimal.

(Weapuh) #8

I also hope it will be a minimum, i hate being shot at and unable to shoot back because my crosshair is no longer “where the gun shoots” anymore, Stupid BC2.

(MrX) #9

Well its should have some of it as a penalty for not seeing and shooting the enemy first but hopefullly not as much as cod

(SockDog) #10

I thought that was called losing health.

(MrX) #11

Yeah but its has to be and a little realistic ,dont u think?

(Bullveyr) #12

Not really but I’m fine with a little kick as long as it doesn’t have that much affect, especially when shooting from the hip.

(BioSnark) #13

No thanks imo. The advantage of shooting first should be starting to do damage first. Don’t need view shaking or eye jelly to prevent retaliation.

(trigg3r) #14

most of the shooters have it, so probably brink will have it as well.
Personally i like it, it adds a bit of realism to the game

(DarkangelUK) #15

For a few games it adds a bit of annoyance. Screen starts jumping all over the place and blood splatters… too harsh and it turns it into a who sees who 1st wins shooter.

(tokamak) #16

It should come in your weapon spread taking a jump and a minor crosshair displacement. Not in the form of visual annoyance, any visual stuff needs to be merely an indicator rather than a limitation.

The point is that when you’re under fire you first need to get yourself safe from harm and behind cover before responding to the threat.

I’ll take annoyance and frustrating free gameplay, over realism any day.

The problem i have with it is; When shooting with a non zoom scoped weapon, such as an assault rifle or whatever, the DVK as you call it is easily corrected and doesnt make much differance. However with scoped weapons like snipers(i know brink wont have 1hit kill ones but still) and scoped assault rifles, the impact of the DVK is magnified exponentially, and instead of just adding a little challenge to aiming, it makes it insanely hard.

I wouldnt mind as long as they made the DVK the same regardless of your scope/ironsights/hipfire, i know its not realistic and i know it makes sense that they should get a bigger kickback but in games it just makes scoped weapons very annoying to use.

Using a scope grants you an advantage. It only makes sense that damage-based recoil, should be more while scoped.

It does? I never even noticed.
