Damage everyone in warmup mode

Is there some reason why people will vote no for this? In my opinion it makes those waiting times much more enjoyable… Especially since you can take it out on all your team mates…

Some people don’t seem to notice when warmup is over and use their flamethrower or panzerfaust on a gaggle of freshly spawned teammates…

I’ve never had that happen. Although I did have one guy shoot a dude in the head with his SMG, but that was immediately after we spawned and he quickly stopped before any of us became not-invincible.

who votes no are queers

Well then just call me queer, because I hate damage in warmup, especially since I play almost exclusively on Limited Life servers.

Damage in warmup means two things.

  1. No one is actually planning what they are going to be doing in the coming map, which means you’re seeing less teamwork.

  2. Someone is going to go flamethrower/panzer/airstrike happy and then “accidentally” killed fifteen people at the start of the next map.

Not to mention that occassionally I want to mortar, and it would be nice to be able to set up the exact spot I want to hit before the map actually starts. Hard to do that when you’re teammates are in an orgy of moronic teamkilling and knifing you in the back over and over again.

Some people use the time to coordinate and yes, people do forget that the warm up time is over and accidentally TK people. I know I’ve done it when playing around with the flamer and a forum-mate posted an apology for the 6 people he tk’d with a grenade.

I once flamed my whole team by complete accident. I was having fun typing “welcome to hell” when I died, I had the console down so I could not see the warmup countdown. I pulled the console up and clicked JUMP to spawn, but as I spawned my whole team spawned behind me (warmup was over). I didn’t notice, I turned 360 degrees while holding down the trigger. Once again I want to apoligize. I did not reconnect, it was too embarrasing.

SubstandardJones has it right. I rarely see a team plan anything during the warmup. I often pipe in “I’m spawning covert ops and will be taking side route” or “I’m an engineer and will construct depot defences”. Not that it helps – I’ll still get 2 axis engineers following me to the depot to construct defences.

The mortar thing is a very good point: finding the correct coordinates for a mortar strike during the warmup gives a huge advantage.

I’m talking about pub servers here. No one coordinates attacks on pub servers, and generally killing your team mates is the most satisfying part of the game mainly due to their performance on the previous map.

Remind me to never play on your team.

i like to jump on peoples heads, go prone and then slash with the knife waiting for them to look up and wonder what on earth is going on
