Daily reminder to Nexon/SD

It has already been confirmed by splash damage that servers restricted to high levels will NOT be implemented. They feel it is NOT a great way to separate beginners from more seasoned players.

They are looking to other possibilities. Maaaaaaybe they will give in, but then it would be just a temporary hot fix.

i could only imagine the wait times for high lvl servers only

I got that impression as well. Stil a new max lvl 10 or even new set of servers with names like ‘advanced’ or ‘veteran’ or ‘cobalt’ that are out of quickjoin queues would solve the problem too

:frowning: Well hopefully we can find another solution.

Can that other solution be a signature?

I’m not interested in ‘pugs’ and organized competitive matches. I want to play a pub with high skilled people who know the game, on both teams!
Currently it’s either hardcore tryharding or being thrown in middle of complete noobs. Nothing in between.

(prettyStake) #28

I used to wait sometimes up to a half hour to get on the smokeherb OLTL server in RTCW. And Enemy Territory was the same, the good people always had a specfic server to go to get decent and rewarding matches. I mean I’m all for Pub All Stars once in awhile and cracking some skulls. But to not allow higher level players to get into the same server without the riffraff seems kinda odd. And yes i know there is DirtyCup Pugs, but still?

I like Splash Damage more and more.

Day 609, I’m still waiting for this Aura to rez me but they’re too busy fighting people across the map with a shotgun.

(Tomme) #31

Why don’t we for the time being just agree as a community on one EU and one NA stopwatch server (the number of the servers) which everyone congregates on? Worked well in other games, obviously you get the odd newcomer but overall it would be a better experience.

(D'@athi) #32

That sentence is a curse, it’s gotten worse since i’ve been reading it…

(D'@athi) #33

And some protip to all support-farming sawbonez… Just drop your medipacks @ spawn.

Bump, because the topic is still very much relevant, and I constantly find myself in the middle of low level players in pubs.

The other day I was playing Skyhammer, doing my best, as I usually would, and the enemy team were getting visibly frustrated.
Some of them threw some hackusations at me, and eventually, all of the enemy team had left the server.

I didn’t like the situation.

The alternative scenario is, when I notice that all of my team m8s are level 1-5, or so, and only just figuring out how to play the game, and they simply cannot be carried.
This either forces me to bang my head against a brick wall, or to switch to, say, a sniper and camp the outskirts, trying to get a pick here and there, to avoid frustration.

I hope that your solution to this issue, whatever it may be, will work, but I don’t understand the stubbornness about adding level restricted servers.

High level servers confirmed on dev stream.

I’d be all up for high level servers, or even better, let’s start getting community servers up. It’s something this game sorely lacks, look at other FPS games - you’ll notice a lot of them have player run servers and such and this builds a community for those who stay, and thus leads to meeting people, playing more with said people, and ultimately promoting growth in skill because everyone wants to get better.

More and more people will hear of the servers, the servers grow, everyone wins.

I was thinking a Steam group advertising to find an empty server every few hours for those who want to play, or do as you said and list the servers (maybe 2 of objective/stopwatch, 1 execution if its still up, for each area) on the group so everyone who checks can see which one to join. Still works as a band-aid for community servers.

Heck, I’ll make a group provided someone give me a name for it and will link it when up. Can work out stuff from there.

Sooo…? Feedback on the new min level servers?

(_Sniff_) #38

I like killing high level people with sticky bombs.

(srswizard) #39

I’m really glad that these servers got added, so big thanks for that!
It was cool to see some familiar names playing on them, and some new ones alike.
These servers seem to be popular, and as a result; full, almost all of the time, so adding even more of them, could be something to consider.

(Szakalot) #40

Absolutely fell in love with them, don’t think I’ll ever go back.

  • no longer have to carry a team, huge relief not to be ‘best’ among lvl6 players:
  • skill range is more balanced; games are fast&tense regardless of getting destroyed (rather than newbies hiding&camping)
  • people play for the team, amount of spark-revives flying around is hilarious
