We seriously need high level servers.
The frustration is real.

AND increase level for ranked, it’s soooooooooooooooooo annoying… just look at this

A COMPETITIVE match and i play with 4 skyhammers.
They planted their own C4 at sidedoors instead of defending the c4 at objective etc.
I got so incredibly mad.

The fact that there can be 4 skyhammers in competitive is not the best idea. Problem is, how do you decide which player plays which merc?

Some tips for competitive:
- Don’t play until you can reliably place 1st or 2nd in pubs
- Always have an Engie and Medic
- Always play with friends
- Target Enemy Medics First
- Help up friendly medics if you have time
- Play the Objective
- Finishing enemy players with guns is effective
- Be mindful of your positioning and your enemies positioning
- If you get spawncamped it’s you and your teams fault for sucking. But telling them how much they suck will only make them suck more. It also makes you look like a douche.
- Do things as a team.
This thread isn’t about competitive play. It’s about public servers with a minimum level requirement.

On 2 ~ Sometimes 2 medics is preferred. I know in one situation we switched to a 3 medic team for a minute or two on a particularly rough patch on Chapel. And other times an engineer isn’t as useful as you think. First objective defense on Chapel for example, you don’t need a defending engineer as much as you might like to have a Skyhammer, Arty or Kira.
On 3 ~ Yes! Playing premade is the best way to do competitive. Clan and Team Recruitment
On 4 ~ Situational. Sometimes that Engineer might be more important. A better suggestion is make their medics useless via gibbing.
On 5 ~ Yes! Always pick up the medics first!
On 8 ~ This will come much easier with time. Practice practice practice!
On 9 ~ Sometimes it is better to just walk away. If the skill level difference is TOO extreme, you really won’t be able to learn from trying to play against them. Rather than rage, pay attention to what the enemy does. Try and learn from where they go and how they move.

In PUGs everyone decides what role they want to play (Killer/Medic/Engineer/Versatile) before anyone is picked. Maybe players could be required to choose a role before joining the matchmaking queue?
I feel nowhere ready to play competitive, but neither do I ant to slaughter newbies, nor do I want them being useless on my team.
I expect from my teammates that they know the map and don’t get lost, and use their abilities. Nobody is seriously going to complain about a useless airstrike, but not dropping a single ammo-pack is not cool.
Everyone is welcome to learn the basics in <6 servers, and of course some (level) ffa servers wouldn’t hurt.
Yet if I want to play with lvl6 and above, don’t make me play competitive, I’m not having fun in there.
So long story short, I just want to play casual with people that played the game for at least a couple hours and understand the basics.
Yep, the problem is, most newcommers are probably not as “mentally overwhelmed” by the game (< is that a political correct expression?) as they seem, but simply have not the slightest idea what to do. Yes, most of them heard of fps-games before, but that really doesn’t help the teamplay in db.
And until people ARE FORCED to play a better-made intro to the game, where objectives, classes, etc. and their uses are really explained, the only way of getting a higher chance of having a team which doesn’t give the feeling of beeing totally useless, is to have higher levels in your team. You will still get the odd “kd-ratio first”/tdm-playing idiots, but nowhere near as many as nowadays, when getting stuffed in teams with many lowlevels/beginners.
So until there is a forced and much better tutorial, that’s probably the best if not only quick-fix before the newbs really get raped because everyone not having a full team to play competetive, will lose the patience.
The idea for more level locked servers has been passed along. Now we wait
@MissMurder can you also pass along, to please allow the server explorer filter to hide servers you aren’t eligible to play on? If we get <6 and >5 servers, we will always have some servers we can never ever play on, and we should be able to ignore them - possibly even before the server-list is fetched, which already is a noticeable chunk of time
I’d happily pay a fee for having our own private match-server if this is an option coming in the near future.
Forced meta is shit. Let players choose it themself
Nice list Sniff and I agree except for 1. That makes no sense at all.
Aside from the fact that the ranked system needs some more time and players to get fully calibrated.
Your score on Pubs is definitive no prequisite for ranked play, the system ranks your skill and gives you enemies and teammates roughly around your skill lvl. On a pub you will have players higher or lower on both teams. Therefore you might never see a number 1 or 2 spot there.
For those fearing they are not ready for ranked try it. its quite often bumpy agreed. But improves by the day (hey I had some games that didn’t end in someones spawn). It’s usually not that competive since the amount of lvl 5. is pretty high and most have a hard time adjusting to the 5 vs 5 objective focused play, compared to the 8 vs 8 TDM Spamfest they are used to.
Another tipp the lobbytimer and Readytimer are alot longer so there is plenty of time to talk about tactics, atleast say hi and check up who is going engineer and medic.
