We’re moving into the holiday season full steam ahead and for the first time since, well, the last holiday season, great new releases are flooding the market on a weekly basis. LEGO Batman, Saints Row 2, FIFA 09, and Pro Evo Soccer are out already and with Fable 2, Far Cry 2 and Dead Space, the next round of big budget titles is already waiting in the wings. We’ll be doing our best to stay on top of the impending madness and may even have to increase the frequency of Currently Hurling to make sure each wave of new titles gets to be covered here on the blog.
Anyway, this week Senior Environment Artist Mark ‘static_mover’ Lack makes his blog debut with what’s arguably the most concise entry ever, while Huntle salivates over Saints Row 2 and jRAD hates on the “Million Points” levels in the LEGO series. Let the games begin:

So I just dropped like, over a ton on my next week of gaming (I need to get it all out of my system in time for Fallout, which has to be finished in time for a bunch of other stuff a week later).

Opinions will probably be forthcoming on Fable 2, Far Cry 2 and Dead Space… Just as soon as I’ve spoken to the Doctor and organised about 3 months in effective stasis so I can get through them all without rushing too much!

I’ve still got to finish up Saints Row 2… crap.

So I’ve seen loads of people play Fable II (my copy hasn’t arrived yet sadly) and it seemed to outweigh FarCry 2 and Dead Space by far in that nobody played either one once they started playing Fable. I guess it must be good, then, huh? :slight_smile:

Yeah, so far I’ve enjoyed it more than either Far Cry 2 or Dead Space, but at the same time, I haven’t give those 2 as much time as I have Fable… Dead Space is one to be played at night in a darkened room, which sort of restricts available playing hours! Far Cry hasn’t “grabbed” me yet, I can see the potential, I just haven’t gotten quite far enough in yet though.

yep Fable 2 is pretty cool, if only I had more time to play it :slight_smile:

haven’t checked out Far Cry 2 yet, although I hear a few folks have been suffering motion sickness due to the tiny FOV?

Wouldn’t surprise me, there is something in how the camera moves that’d do it for a lot of people… I’m just coming round to the idea that it’s essentially Assassins Creed in Africa without the need to do the repetitive missions.
