Current patch Time To Kill (TTK)

(Anti) #161

I’ve said this before but I do really worry about how limited a range of mechanic masteries people on the forums seem to think can be considered ‘skill’, I know in many other FPS communities ‘skill’ covers a much wider range of mechanics than simply tracking.

Twitch is a skill that can be learnt, it’s one of the main benefits of aim maps and something I put a lot of time into improving during my time playing comp Call of Duty 1. The techniques to improve it aren’t quite as obvious or easy to get as those that can be used to improve tracking, but they still exist.

If DB is going to have the longevity we want though it’s going to need multiple ‘skill’ tracks available to players, as well as a heavy dose of teamwork. We’d still like tracking to be a major part of this skill set, but it can’t be left on its own.

Does it mean we gonna keep this TTK forever ?
Lot of people are complaining about the short TTK or the ROF to high.

Yeah clearly what people around here define as skill is very subjective so i would take little notice Anti of comments regarding certain aspects not being a skill, i think you guys at the office can work that out for yourselves and just because others are sat quiet doesn’t mean they agree with the minority posting.

Without trying to go too far off the original thread, the skill element needs to be imposed on the movement system i feel by adding crouch jump, sprint + reload, sprint+shooting (in contrast to a post in a previous thread i am now for this) and trick jumping across maps. I’d also ideally like some form of mini strafe jump but i’ve given up all hope of that sadly with the last thread and possibly prone which i couldn’t see hurting anything (im sure it’s been discussed somewhere i should prob take a look).

Back to original topic just reposting what i said before basically…

  • Slightly lower ROF & tweak damage to find a middle ground between what we have now and before.

No, I dont think so. He just said that they want a variety of different skills regarding aim implementented in DB. The TTK/RoF is a subject which may change quite often because its one part of balancing the game/weapons

What this man said

We’re still keeping an eye on this and are likely to tweak weapons more in future. When and to what effect I can’t really say.

I came from Q3, CPMA, Warsow (one dev is my roommate) and for me skill it’s more a combination of movement + shooting and actually movement is not really effective, in most case that’s first to see first to frag … you can’t move or escape, you can’t shoot back when you take the first hit, lot of frag look like an insta-kill you dont have any chance (COD like ?). So moving is really important, and for me that the main skill. but in DB that’s not really effective at the moment with this short TTK (or this high ROF).

Did you notice that more people voted that they like the ttk as it is?

Might be an idea to lock this thread then. It’s obviously a contentious, and divisive, issue. But if it’s not going to change anytime soon, or by any large degree, then let’s focus on other things.

(Anti) #169

Agreed. We can start another one in future once changes happen.
