Crashing

:banghead: Guys, I’ve got a problem…
:banghead: Whenever I’m playing ET, and the map is over, and the server changes maps, the game crashes during the loading process…
I’m running an AMD Athlon 1Ghz, 32 MB GeFroce 2 MX, and 128 MB Memory. Can someone help me, or is there a patch available?

I have the same problem and usually is after the rail gun / Oasis / campain end.

My specs:

AMD Athlon XP 2000+
1 GB DDR Kingston
64 MB Gforce 4 AGP 4x

This may be a result of slow map loading on your end. You have a pretty limited system. More RAM would help and RAM is pretty cheap.

I had a similar system (but with 256mb) and found that by increasing my RAM to 1gb my map loading time dropped tremendously. Instead of missing the beginning of many maps I am readying up with time left in warm-up.

For a cost perspective, my motherboard takes PC1600 or PC2100 RAM. I bought 1gb (2 512 cards) of Corsair PC2100 for $130. I have three slots so I can still expand a little more.

You have a better system that I do so I doubt its your system. Does this happen on pretty much any server or a particular server? Maybe they have a bug in their campaign config file or something. Are they running the server patch? I used to get a lot of lost connections with the un-patched version but I do not get many now. I would think that pretty much any server out there would be patched, but you never know.

Uuuuuh when he was talking about that low-end system, i think he was talking to me… Lol :bump: Anyway, the pc aint mine, its my dads (I’m only 14 you know). So I’ll have to wait untill i get my 2.8Ghz monster with 2GB and a Radeon 9800 Pro (265MB) Heh, i think I’ll manage then :wink:

So have you killed your Dad in order to collect the insurance money yet ? If this was not your origonal intention, ask about how much he is insured for, you never know ya might get even more than a PC from it.

Another piece of advice have a SOLID alibi, but if you do get caught DON’T blame Enemy Territory, blame DOOM II as you thought it had better monsters than the origonal DOOM and you swore your Dad was the Spider Demon or something similar.

It happened on almost all servers, (included when I make a server (with the patch) :banghead: )

So. I don’t know what’s the problem. all i know is that i lost the connection and sometimes the E.T. freezes, some times not. (and don’t let me take a screenshot when that happened)

Hehehe, no I’m not gonna kill my dad, jus a couple more hundred dollars and I’m there… By the way, my mom doubles all the money I’ve earned myself… But its a good idea, maybe later… :drink: cheers mate :drink:

By the way i’ve turned all the settings waaaaay down, and now it works thank you for your help

Well my system specs are completely unimpressive:

p3 733
512k RAM
GF3 Ti200

I don’t have problems being dropped or anything like that… just some issues with extremely poor fps from time to time (or I should say I have so-so ping from time-to-time and most of the time it absolutely blows :disgust: )

NP though, I’m sure those with piss poor systems like me will want to upgrade before HL2 and Doom 3 are introduced… :clap:

Of course, once I do upgrade it’s gonna be tougher for me to blame getting owned on my pisser of a system :eek3:

2.5 years with minor upgrades is a long time to have a system though and she’s served me well :cool:

I played fine earlier this morning. Now when I go to run ET it starts the fame engine and just goes to a grey screen and stops responding. So, I tried reinstalling the game. Now it runs, but if I try to enable punk buster it locks up an stops responding. WTF :???: :bash: :???: :twak: is going on? Anyone have any Ideas?

Ok seems that my problem has gone :smiley:

This i what i did:

Disable GL extensions
and increase the hunk megs (yup i had the 56mb default)

in my case (i have 1 gig of mem) i put: /Com_hunkmegs 312
restarted the game and all going perfect (just a bit slow and choppy on the begining because the Gl extensions disabled, but using it for 3 minutes and going all to a good performance, from 32 to 60 fps -800x600- i haven’t checked it on a high res. But I will :cool: )

Errr. it didn’t helped. seems that is a problem with punkbuster, i have been playing in servers without punkbuster and all is ok (enabled the GL extensions again).

So i have updated my punkbuster and put the cfg file that some1 recommended, I hope that fix my problems.
