CovertOps XP is messed up (long)

I disagree, every kill should count the same (otherwise the treads would come up to count PF kills with one XP or similar)

d) 5 exp for… throwing Smoke Grenade at construction that needs repair (other than Mg or Command Post). It’s invaluable cover, especially when thrown at tank barrier or bridge to help in repair, or at destroyed tank)

e) 5 exp for throwing Smoke Grenade at construction/objective that should be destroyed (ones that can’t be destroyed via satchel, for instance tank barriers, main door, side entrance, functioning water pump for axis etc. NOT at vehicles. NOT at final objectives, which are hard to reach and smoke doesn’t help - not at FUEL Dump, Gun Controls, Anti-tank guns)

f) 2 exp for throwing Smoke Grenade at Mg nests served by an enemy

I can already see hordes of CovOps doing nothing but throwing smoke at the long bypassed bridge just to wh0re huge amounts of XP, no thanx. Throwing smoke alone shouldn’t be worth getting XP. Smoke can be essential but it depends on the situation and is far to fluid for a ET-style XP-system.

g) 3 exp for killing soldiers with deployed Mortar (they are potentially VERY destructive)

well, every kill is worth 3XP, right ? And why should CovOps get more points for killing a mortar guy than say an medic or eng ??

h) 2 exp for each enemy killed by teammate… Enemy must be within your line of sight, and NOT in your teammate’s.

No way, CovOps would otherwise just lie on SniperHill at FuelDump, watching the entrance and whenever a FieldOps tosses an airstrike over the wall and kills an enemy the CovOps gets XP ? No, thanx.

But you already get different amounts for different kills. Headshots are worth 5, other kills are worth 3. (Panzer and MG42 never count as headshot. Neither does mortar, even though it’s coming down on their heads!)This means that per-kill, panzers get less XP than a sniper.

And actually, killing mortarers in their base is worthless. He’s just going to respawn immediately and step up in the same place. In fact, chances are he was thinking about killing himself anyhow, just to reload his ammunition.

If someone wants to give different XP for killing different people, then base it on the victim’s XP (like a +1 point if you kill someone with more than 150% your XP. Will help late-joiners catch up in a campaign)

I completely disagree. Covert Operations is an art form.[/quote]
I think by “master”, he meant “get high XP”. A problem with the CovertOps class (and also Engineers, to a lesser extent) is that the ones who do the most to help you win may not get much XP.

I think that just means the people who want to win will play CovOps and all the fools who just sit their ass down and snipe (poorly, I might add) will avoid the class.

I love playing CovOps, especially on Oasis, simply because you can terrorize the enemy team without them being able to do much about it. Killing 1 or 2 people with a satchel is okay but blasting their CP will drive the entire team nuts. Not to mention completely negating mines, MG42’s, and mortars with your guerrilla tactics.

I guess what I’m trying to say is I enjoy tricking the enemy more than getting high exp; it’s just too damn fun. The only change I think CovOps needs is better disguises at level 4 (either negate lvl 4 FOps or a permanent label even at short ranges for non-lvl 4’s).

I love to play Cov Ops on railgun - esp. on axis side. Blasting command posts and mg nests, sneaking behind the lines and get the flag or spotting and blasting mines at the track switch. I love it. (And not to forget killing that allied spawn campers from behind)

My ideas to replace level4 Covert Op skill:

1. Covert Op can see health bars of enemy soldiers. No other information is shown. Doesn’t work on disguised enemies. . With such information, you could decide whetever to run or fight.

2. Instead of silly and next to useless Assasin, knife is totally silent unless hits an enemy. If you manage to stab someone, it produces “hmpf” sound, same as throwing grenade or reviving.

At the moment, you could swap lvl1 Covop reward with lvl4 reward and NO ONE would complain.

My favourite map for Covert Op is Oasis. So many places to hide, soo easy to spot mines… Especially when you know paths with low traffic
