Covert Ops Tactics on Fueldump

(ExP|Maximus191) #21

Personally i love sniping as Allied covert ops on Fuel dump :frowning:
I also really enjoy sniping as Axis covert aswell and usually get shit loads of kills.
Plus on public servers i find this fun and i really enjoy it. Is this wrong? :’(

Hi!
If you like sniping, you must try our new map North Pole. Plenty of sniping opportunities there on this open and aim-friendly map.

Don’t agree with the comments about smoke being worthless.
In Goldrush it a very good tactic for allies to get to the tank. It also gives the CO cover to spot mines. And trying to get the gold out of the bank with smoke makes life much easier. Seen it done by many clans. No matter whether you like to use smoke or not, it does work.

About the one shot kills confusion, read this link.

I have to agree that one shot sniper kills are possible as I seem to get them as well . Could it be a server setting or are the weapon damage fixed.

Not once, as far as I can remember, have I been killed by a sniper when, as an engineer, trying to get the wet-paper-bag-armor-tank moving in fuel depot.

What usually gets me is artillery, rambo meds and panzers, in that order

The one thing I actually do believe snipers are decent for is taking MG nests, like the 1st tower in depot.
The guy manning the MG either dies from the first bullet, has to move away when hit, or is killed by the second shot, either way the MG is no longer fireing at our team.

So if you have to snipe, make damn sure your top priority is thos MGs.
This is far too often not the case…

Just my not so humble opinion.

you might find this a bit odd, but when playing sten i use the smoke to
>to throw just infront of mg nest or into an mg tower, effectively covers whole screen in smoke for mg gunner
>i use it to make the enemy believe im somwhere else… when allied and i try to jump over the barbed wire protecting the river i throw smoke next to commanpost cabin, makes sure im not spotted when crawling up

that cv op sneaking engineer in door is old…so old. :moo:

try this…
>you wait till allied commander says destroy the depot defences early in game, then you rush to the fuel dunp door postion yourself for where the head will be and crouch. The engineer will have to come out to play the game at the river some time so wait. then when he opens the door, shoot and rush in, you only get one chance.

>if ff is off i get an engineer to meet me at the depot side wall, i then spawn as a panzer and blast him over the wall…heres a tip you can try with grenades but it wont work as the blast is too small, air stike to big you fly up and up then die, but a panzer aimed at the ground a few feet behind the enginner will work well, get him on the roof of that open hut thing.

Hmmm…
The garand gives 100 damage in sniper mode headshot? That coupled with its lower kickback…hmm maybe thats the ā€œbalanceā€ SD put in to compensate for being non-relaodable?

(Bludd) #29

Damage for each team’s weps are equal, naturally. And yes, according to the chart at http://www.planetwolfenstein.com/4newbies/enemyterritory.htm the scoped garand/k43 not only CAN but DO result in a 1 shot kill, assuming the target had no more than 100 HP. Scoped garand/k43 to the head == one shot kill, regardless of helmet. If you’re not getting a 1 shot kill, you’re either not hitting the head, even if you’re positive you did (can be a result of ping, etc), or the enemy had more than 100 HP.

When scoped, the sniper rifle for both teams inflict 50% damage to the body and 100% to the head, with or without a helmet. Of course, this is based on the tests of the guy who made the chart, and I’ve found nothing in the game files with any actual numbers, like there is in the CoD game files.

(Roeligan) #30

k so whenever a team has atleast 1 med the 1 shot kill doesn’t apply, since every1 has 105 hp then…

(Bludd) #31

Yup, you’re correct. I was just verifying that a 1 shot kill is indeed possible in ET.

(senator) #32

That’ll only work agains (again) noobs, I for example never leave the FD throuh the door, I will always jump from above the wall but only after carefully checking that no CovOps is around. If there is one waiting I either kill him from above or /kill to respawn up front

Uh, I NEVER play of FF off server! And I think no serious player will ever do, FF-Off servers are for girlies and little kids only

(funkPig) #33

Well jesus, if we can, lets agree to disagree…

(Joe) #34

or people who dont want the imposing threat of an admin bot, or people who want to learn to use heavy weapons like mortar

i could retaliate by saying ff off servers are for tking noobs, and macho clans but that would be making the same mistake as you

(Bludd) #35

FF off utterly destroys the game. FD, tunnel grate blown, Allied engy and any other teammate run to FD, other guy nades engy over the wall, game over. Gee, how realistic. Who don’t we just go play Q3A and do rocket jumps…

(The_Jesus_Zeppelin) #36

the only time ive used smoke is when i throw it in an area to make people think that a cov ops is trying to hid in it or that people are trying to use it for cover, and then tehy panzer and or shoot that area, and then…i kill them.

(Joe) #37

why do you keep taking away my posts dam it!!!

(The_Jesus_Zeppelin) #38

sorry funk, i posted that last message at about 5 in the morning or somwhere around there wehwen i was at a lan. i missed your post aobut agreeing to disagree. my bad. im awake now and yes, we definatly should agree to disagree. again sorry about that, my fault.

(Croaker) #39

smoke can be really useful, on fuel dump for exmaple - chuck in a smoke cannister in the main entranceway, then run to the side wall breach - the smoke basically says ā€˜look out , may be people in there!’ and generally diverts a lot of a attention to itself, leaving weaknesses elsewhere.

In general, the more smoke, the better (of course there are exceptions)

(funkPig) #40

no prob jesus, that looks like a good use of misdirection though and is another tactic a covert should be practicing.
