deploying the machine gun while standing up as long as you have a ledge or sand bags or somethign high enough to stand it on
similar to (barf) day of defeat
could this be coded into the game?

Really ? AFAIK Americas Army has ‘supported’ position, and several mods have ‘ledge grabbing’ which is almost the same logic. Shouldn’t be too hard.
Of course it is a fairly pointless discussion, because I doubt splash is going to introduce serious gameplay changes or release the game code.

all you would need to do is create an entity in front of the player at a really high height then give it a huge gravity so it appears instantly on the ledge in front of the player. if the height is above say, shoulder height it just dont do it

Use of it would depend upon map design, and I don’t think it’s really worth the time and effort …
