Could SnD work for DB?

(INF3RN0) #1

I am highly doubtful it would be possible, but I know the f2p audience are mostly SnD fans. How could SnD work if it had to be implemented?

Didn’t WarFace have class based SnD??? meh.

(rand0m) #2

I’d rather not play call of duty 7 or CS 12. Class base objective is the way to go, the problem is doing it right which isn’t hard to do…just seems like a flat out refusal to do it right. The wheel cannot be re-invented I dunno why they are trying. The wheel has changed it’s appearance and standards, but st the heart a wheel is a wheel.

I’m hoping SnD lovers will enjoy SW, but sometimes you have to draw them in first. TDM is already in ofc.

(rand0m) #4

Why do we need to draw in SnD players? This game isn’t going to be for everyone, and I for one am not interested in playing SW with hardcore cod tdm players at all. This is an objective game it’ll appeal to players who want to play an objective based arcade fast paced shooter. I don’t understand the need to draw in SnD players. Brink tried to draw in all kinds of different players and failed miserably. Why not create DB with objective based gamers in mind.

(INF3RN0) #5

Um… most SnD players I know have never heard of or understand SW or OBJ games. They might need to grow into it from a familiar place first, but in the end it only brings more potential player base. If the game only appeals at a distance to experienced players then we will have no one to play with…

(tokamak) #6

Not a fan and it would be sending the wrong message about the conviction SD has in their own formula.

(Dragonji) #7

Also please add trillion weapons and attachements for them to bring CoD players and don’t forget about vehicles please so the playerbase will get a huge impact from BF community, else we will have noone to play with.

I enjoy this guys sarcasm. 0.o

Search n Destroy? , this is prop hunt, all those game mods are very fun, and should be implemented. The more the marrier.

You mean irony. Sarcasm is closely related, but Dragonji was being ironic.

lol, have a star

Ironically, irony is often misunderstood.

SnD could work for DB. But I am guessing most people here won’t want it for whatever biased reason they have. Sorry, saying it shows SD isn’t confident with their current modes is stupid. It would show SD is willing to add fun modes for more people to enjoy their game. And it doesn’t have to be exactly like CS or CoD or warface etc. People have made unique modes before. They could make a demolition/SnD mode that works for how DB plays.

I don’t think the modes in this game will help the game stand on its own feet right now. I think they could make SnD work. They could make a variety of different modes work and not only succeed but succeed exceedingly well.

Not the most constructive feedback… I don’t see familiar game modes ruining anything anyway. Most people seem to be fine with BaseRace, CTF, TDM, but somehow SnD would ruin the game? I think it would mostly be tough to have SnD work with the mechanics of the game, but I was hoping to hear some reasons why it could, would, or wouldn’t.

I’d be mainly interested in SW myself, but I know a lot of people who would never touch the game unless there was SnD. I’d be hopeful that they would eventually find more enjoyment in SW, however I’m not one to judge which is the better mode; only what fits better with the game mechanics. After all I can name a hundred games with different game modes that still only have one mode for comp and maintain a pretty large player base because they offer such variety.

Those people that won’t touch the game for SnD are the same as us. We wont’ touch a game that is SnD because it’s boring. The only reason SnD is popular is because casuals get to see their favorite player crutch 1v5. I don’t believe that will work in DB.

If SnD were implemented for DB it wouldn’t be a LTS setup it would, or at least I hope would, still have the spawning system in place. At that point is it any different than Obj mode?

Also, saying players don’t understand stopwatch is weak. It’s a very simple game mode, set a time, defend the time. Simple as that.

I personally don’t care if they do or do not add SnD. I know I wouldn’t even bother playing it though because that mode in it’s original form, is one of the most boring game modes ever created.

I like SnD to some extent and have played quite a lot of it before. It’s a good mode, just different- but yea I just don’t see it working with the class/weapon mechanics. It wouldn’t bother me if it was in there and I probably wouldn’t play it. Whether or not it could be made functional or if it would be enough to attract players who might eventually take liking to SW idk.

(BomBaKlaK) #17

I dont like SnD, that’s why I don’t play games with this mode

(stealth6) #18

I think it’s a pretty funny reaction: “Game has SnD, not going to buy it”. Even if it has different game modes, nope SnD not going to buy it.

Anyway my first reaction is how do you handle reviving / healing? Do you just disable that outright? Or is there another form of SnD where you aren’t limited to 1 life?

(Kendle) #19

Well that’s the problem, CS players don’t play S&D for the bomb, they play it cos it’s one life per round, so that’s revive out the window. The problem then is lots of other things need to go to maintain the integrity of one life. You can’t have Engie’s building a wall of Turrets and Mines around bomb sites for example. The Soldier’s MG would have to go, and maybe Shotguns as well.

DB doesn’t have enough variety in weaponry, once you remove the class distinctions, to be viable. In fact I’d be surprised if S&D was played with anything other than F/Ops and Snipers.

That’s not to say it shouldn’t be included. Another game I’ve played a lot of, Urban Terror, is mostly CTF and TS (Team Survivor), but it also has a “bomb” mode, originally more popular in the US, and it has no classes and little variation in weaponry yet there are bomb leagues and it’s actually a growing game mode here in Europe now.

Ahhhh UT. Now that was a fun SnD game.
