I’m really derailing this thread so this will be my last post on the topic. If you’d like the last rebuttal, be my guest. Just a few points to make:
-
There is no such thing as “virtual value”. Anything that has value has “real” value.
-
Time is also a currency. I’ve only got so much free time for gaming and I invested a significant proportion of it to acquire Phoenix. DB can respect that or not; I can continue investing time (or money, if I am ever so inclined) in DB or not.
-
The obsidian skin and elite cases are not fungible (i.e. they cannot be traded or otherwise used as currency). As a result they do not have a fixed value. You clearly value them very highly and I respect that. I only value them as highly as they can deliver me a desired loadout. You are more than welcome to disagree with my opinion of the value, but I would appreciate if you could respect that it is a matter of opinion.

The rate of credit gain varies wildly from player to player. Mine is undoubtedly much slower than most active players. I’ve got a lot of mercs and loadouts to purchase, with new ones coming out periodically. I do not foresee myself having a credit surplus for a very long time, and there’s no guarantee I’ll ever reach that point before I stop playing Dirty Bomb (temporarily or otherwise).
I don’t want the “last word” but i feel the urge to say this. You are ungrateful and don’t really deserve the gift you are going to get. I tried a lot of f2p fps out there in the last years and believe me this is the first time i find a game that have a great economy system (true f2p, not p2w/freemium/microtransaction like a ton of other games), developers that are actually in touch and listen their playerbase and willing to do a lot of promotions/gifts/contests.
If developers said “as an event you’ll get 2 free elite cases and a rare loadout card for Phoenix when the next patch hit”, would you complain about such an announcement? Nope i hope. Well then take it that way and ignore the rest, maybe you’ll start appreciating something good when it’s done.
What you fail to get is that you lost nothing because the devs didn’t had to give you anything, but they still do it despite people like you. So stop being picky and appreciate this event for what it is.
