Looks like PS3 gets thumbstick and mouse.
still i’d love to see a wii-style controller for the pc.
im pretty sure it’s on the way, i bought usb adapters for my dualshock2 and i play regularly on pc with my ps2 controller. too bad i couldnt use it in bunker because they thought i was going to use +lookup and +lookdown for cheating… just brilliant
You can use a wiimote with PC. It’s value for FPS games is debatable, but pretty darn cool all the same.
LOL! that guy got ownt! it’s not what i had in mind tho… maybe changing the configuration you could end up something like: imagine yourself throwing a grenade, you would have to mimic a throwing move with the remote and depending on the velocity or the arc of your swing the game determines where your nade will end up. also sniping with the remote really close to your eye like it’s a rifle. maybe not with the wiimote but it’s something i believe we will see eventually
Yeah the wii mote it self probably not best suited to PC shooters but something similar with better button configuration could be interesting and worth a try but saying that you would have to be sat further back than normal to avoid hitting your monitor. Also I am waiting for metroid prime 3 to see how the fps controls are for that, I heard they weren’t too bad at E3 with the ‘profession mode’ selected however the others were bit crap from reports.
On the very first day i got the Wii, i dropped the thought immediately ^^
I think it’s still kinda clumsy and not responsive enough to be fun in the long run. Not better than the motion sensing stuff we had 10 years ago (e.g. sidewinder pad, or that other helmet) It’s a fun gimmick but that’s it, imho.
I noticed every third party dev, who made a Wii game stated ‘it’s best to leave the controls “simplistic”’ at one point. It just doesn’t work well enough. wankwank
Instead of buying that you could also use any usb keyboard or mouse with PS3.

Hmmm. I never really noticed a responsiveness problem with the wiimote. But I din’t play a fps on the wii yet. But the Wii Play shooting galleries and Tank games are vers smooth, and those can get pretty hectic too. And in the Zelda frantic horseback-bow&arrow sequences there was no problem too as far as I can say.
Best wii control scheme for fps I can think of would be:
will games particularly all shooter support this keyboard and mouse option? it would seem to give those players a huge advantage its kinda the whole debate about allowing PC’s and consoles to platy against each other
i remember a while back about some mention of keyboard support for 360 but developers choosing to not support this kind of interface
although im defiantly a PC gamer this news is actually quite interesting for me because from the point of view of a casual gamer PC’s and consoles are both basically number crunching devices and the only way consoles are rely behind is the lack of any advanced interface (pads are ok for beginners but they don’t have the accuracy, speed and flexibility of the keyboard and mouse)
a point worth noting is also the comparable price of consoles and PC’s im pretty sure it would cost a fair bit more to get a PC capable of producing 360 level graphics for a game than just buying a 360 (looked at one site for £280) and wouldn’t cost the earth to buy a USB keyboard and mouse with that. comes with the added bonus that you know you will be able to support any game released on that console without having to upgrade or tweak graphic settings
I have always thought about this but after asking an old school mate who plays in one of the top halo teams, he told me that most halo tourneys don’t allow mouse/keyboard attachments, you have to solely use the controller.
tbh, when xbox live starts allowing pc players to play against console games, the console players will not know what’s hit them, a mouse is so superior to a controller it’s laughable

true, but games for consoles cost more than they cost for pc, don’t they?

well for a brand new top of the line game i dont think there is a massive differance although i have picked up quite a few good PC games on the cheap after they have been reased for a year or so
i think you would have to buy a lot of games untill you made the differance between the cost of buying a console and building a PC to the spec required by most next gen games, especaily to get some mid way decent graphics
the main dissadvantage for console plaers is that there seems to be a big boom in the number of games on the console reasle and for about a year afterwards then there seems to be very little on offer untill the next console comes along. i herd that nintendo produces games solely to shift console units (remeber the gamecube anyone)
on the flip side of that it seems rare that a PC game comes along that is of an expectional quality
