Splash guys… are you involved in the development of the “Connectivity” settings development with the Quake Engine in RTCW. I was looking for a very comprhensive document that detailed how all of the setttings work, how they affect on line game play and ultimately make a decision for myself how to set up my network for gameplay (snaps, timenudge, rate, maxpackets to name a few). I have found numerous bits and pieces on these settings on the “Net” but is there a book that you would suggest or more detailed information out there?? I am running two PC’s on a static IP with 144up and 144 down data flow (IDSL) and I’m attempting to troubleshoot some connectivity issus for tournament play.
Connection Stettings - CVARS
Hi PaulS,
I used to be really obsessed with my connection settings - the two URLs below are still the best guide to configuring your connection on quake 3 engine based games:
http://ucguides.savagehelp.com/Quake3/connection.html
http://ucguides.savagehelp.com/ConnectionFAQ/ConnectionFAQ.htm
Don’t worry that it’s Quake 3. All the settings apply equally to RtCW. That site also contains the best guide that I know of for improving your frame-rate.

Sounds a bit like… When I was young like you… I used to be really obsessed with my conn settings!
Hi Paul(s) :)!

…until I got 2mbit ADSL at home
good links, but it helps only a little bit.
I hope we will get in furture a better version of ET-MP test.
At the moment it is very laggy.
Ping is ok.
Australia’s Gamearena Server Admins have been playing around with various server configurations, I would suggest after playing for a good slab of the weekend, that CPU/RAM on the server have a lot to do with the “perceived” Lag.
On a decent server, there is barely any lag. Team sizes can make a huge difference as well. If your server is laggy with 12 a side, try having it changed to perhaps 8 per side…
