Connection drops when in server browser (help!)

(contentdog) #1

so i reaaaally want to play this game, the only problem is when i look at the server browser my connection drops and my router crashes (everyone on the router loses connection)

Ive forwarded the ports, gotten pbsetup and tried changing the connection settings in game, running as admin and in compatibility mode. I got linked to the download in the bethesda forums for brink to a filefront page with the newest patch and the game installer.

Im on a wireless connection and im using vista…if you need anymore information let me know.

Thanks. :riflenade:

try a cat5 to the router

The router STILL shuts off when i look at the server browser and wont turn on until i leave the browser

right click on icon, check run as admin
you may have to run in xp mode as well, but works on Vista for me

nothing

Im sure its my routers fault cause the game works fine at other peoples houses.

Sounds like the router got a problem with handling the connections. You can browse available servers via splatterladder as well. I think they have got a plugin so that you can simply click on a server and join it as well.

that website worked, but now im failing pure server check and something to do with ui_mp_x86.dll

Edit: nevermind, got it all working. Thanks a lot everyone! for anyone interested i ran it in compatibility mode with xp and ran it as an administrator.

Im on win7, and I get this problem. When Im at the server browser my router crashes. Everyone on it crashes too.

try downloading x-fire…browse there, you have i presume tried to reinstall the game AND let it trough your firewall?
