Having little knowedge of setting up LAN connections I’m trying to figure out how to get online through the LAN internet connection.
There’s my PC, which is ideal for gaming, were as the “server” definiatley is not ( dinosaur ).
Currently it’s only two PC’s running Win2k. The “server” has an internal ADSL Modem, connecting both PC’s to the net. It’s also running Norton Firewall.
Now disabling this firewall allows my PC to get a server list. However I dont want to have the firewall disabled for obvious reasons and I cant move the internal modem into my PC.
What do I need to do so I can play from my PC through the “server’s” internal modem ?
[My PC]---->>----[“server”–>--firewall/modem—Internet out]
If I disable the firewall and get the server list, join a game I start to load and then almost instantly get “connection timed out”.
Am I missing a protocol type in my network setup ? Do I have to install a proxy server on the “server” and if so any suggestions where I might find one ?
(of course it’s the best though)
