Configs

(kittenishPond) #1

As a lower end spec player, I used a config to boost my FPS to a steady 35, making the game very playable and very enjoyable. (Note I do reach the recommended settings, but as we know this game isn’t very well optimized, especially for AMD) But with this update I can no longer use my config, hindering my frames to the point where sometimes I drop to 10 frames during a 1 on 1 fight.

I get the whole particle thing, but are really low textures giving people an advantage? No. Please Splash Damage, fix this so people like me can enjoy this game once again.

Instead of limiting the FPS configs it’d be great if they optimised the game and then started limiting the configs.

Right now if people with high spec can’t do good framerates, I feel for those people trying to play on lower end systems after the config locking.

I 100% agree, I wouldn’t mind the config lock if the game was optimized.

(Kroad) #4

this was exactly what they originally promised, but then they started claiming bs about how lower textures don’t really improve framerate and the like

this mentality of preventing any possible advantage leads to them rushing stuff like limiting particle effects even though they haven’t yet worked out a way of removing muzzle flash/blood splatter (if they were even smart enough to realize that many players would dislike it)

@Kroad

you seem to think the devs are incompetent/stupid, which may be, but we have no comparison, maybe download the UDK http://download.udk.com/UDKInstall-2015-02.exe
and show us how it’s meant to be. I’ll certainly look forward to your new game

How shitty is your hardware? I get a steady 100 FPS on a 7790 and 3570K. If your hardware blows, it’s on you to upgrade.

(Nail) #8

nope, got my own forum, wouldn’t touch this one, plus Nexon knows better

You have to be kidding me Kroad.

Hey man, not everyone can afford top of the line hardware. Plus I reach the recommended settings. This is not an insult to the devs but Dirty Bomb is poorly optimized, especially for AMD.

Holy shit. Classic brainless idiot response. If I buy a fucking TV and that fucking TV has half the channels it should have, I fucking complain. Unsurprisingly the store owner doesn’t give me some circuit boards and a screen and tell me to make my own TV.

We have plenty of comparison actually- Kroad and I have in common that we come from another game which saw a downfall due to issues in the development team that I won’t go into, so we have plenty of comparison.

Classic 1000s of posts idiots defending the devs in the hope to become some sort of representative, I’ve seen it plenty of times before.

(Amerika) #12

Splash Damage really should revisit the recommended specs for Dirty Bomb. The “recommended” GPU for the game came out over 10 years ago. That strikes me as a bit low despite UE3 coming out in 2004. The engine has changed quite significantly since then and I’d wager requirements have went up.

(pengr_cc) #13

There’s a difference between me pointing out your idiocy and you turning to sexuality jokes.

(Jostabeere) #14

I don’t know what’s all the stuff about “good rigs can’t have high FPS”
I have a Quad Core 3.8 GHz, GTX 750, 16 Gig RAM and can run the game on smooth 60 FPS with high-mid configs.
But yes, the game should be better optimized.

Yes. They absolutely are. You see enemies way easier cause your textures aren’t really there, but player models are still better textured and are much better highlighted.

My hardware is nowhere near top of the line. In fact, you could probably find my GPU used for around $100.

You still aren’t telling us what you run, which tells me it’s either complete garbage, a laptop, or partially your own doing that the game runs like ass (having power saver enabled, insisting on using Windows 7, etc). If your hardware is as bad as I’m guessing, you cannot expect developers to cater to the lowest hardware floating around.

holy fuck man you are incredibly stupid. I’m not saying this an insult, I mean it, the level of intelligence you display here is so painfully low that it’s disheartening to know that we’re of the same species.

‘make your own game’ has to be the most dull and uninspired meme response I’ve read, it’s such useless nonsense

“YOU CANNOT CRITICISE THIS GAME UNTIL YOU DEVELOP YOUR OWN GAME ALL ALONE”

do you even think about what you put in the reply box or do you just do it to boost your post count so the devs might give you some special icon or title for spending all day spamming the forums

(kittenishPond) #17

@Harlot

AMD Radeon HD 8400 / R3 Series
AMD A6-5200 APU with Radeon™ HD Graphics (Quad Core)
7.7 GB Ram

As you can see, AMD. Which, as I said, people don’t like to optimize for.

(rawket_cc) #18

Pengr has a very good point. I also come from the same game as the 2 of them, which me and Pengr actually were helping out as moderators. That game is very dead now, and that’s because the developers were making really, reaaaaaally, bad choices. Don’t throw immature insults because they’re worried about the same thing happening to this game, unless you really want this game to reach that same point.

Holy shit. D34th just wrecked Nail. I didn’t think this was possible. Nail should consider an identity change ASAP. This is the kind of event that will follow his family name for eons.

60 fps isn’t high either

although I do not have fps problems (used to but it’s better now), i can run high settings at 130-150 fps and low cfg at 180-200, that doesn’t mean that others don’t such as OP (hell, I have to use one frame interval if i want above 144fps) and limiting cvars when game isn’t optimized properly is incredibly stupid (game is still in beta after all)

I also have a visual issue with this patch and so do many others, muzzle flash and blood splatter is incredibly disruptive to aim and has no place in a competitive FPS, at least not to this scale (start shooting someone and their head will become hidden behind a cloud of blood, gl tracking that well)
