Config tweaking

(Abraxas) #1

I want to make some changes to my cfg…I know a bit about it but not everything. Does anyone know of a cfg command list or something kind of like a legend that shows the command and what they do? One of the more complicated things Im trying to do is increase my resolution and maybe visual range if possible. Any help is appreciated.

I’m not sure if there are any [legitimate] ways to increase visual range, but resolution can be set with r_mode.

So, in the .cfg file (you make them in notepad) you could just add one line, and it would look like this.

“set r_mode 6”

Then you could execute the .cfg from in game by using the command:

/exec xxxxx.cfg

If you’re new to .cfgs I recommend doing a search on .cfg files and see what pops up. They can be handy for binding a large amount of vsays and say_teams in a matter of seconds.

I’m in the middle of a ET command & cvar list but its far from done by any means. Also its more of a reference when you already know what you’re looking for, really.

another one, more directly orientated to tweaking, in the works at http://homepage.ntlworld.com/hm.holding/

sure I’ve come accross a fair few more, but they all vary in quality and who they’re aimed at, I dont remember seeing anything really thorough.

Here are some good sources. None of them deal with ET directly, but the differences between the various Q3E games are minuscule.

A good tip is to type for example \cg_ in your console then hit TAB, and a list of all the cg commands will show up. Do the same for \r_ \b_ \cl_ etc.

This forum is an excellent resource as welll. If you’re wondering about specifics, just use the search tool.

Great thanks! A reference page is exactly what I need, I know most of the commands and what they do, I just dont remember all of them and I really like that /cg_ (TAB) thing, thanks guys!
