Config file scripting question

(Mr_Tickles) #1

Is there any alternative to using the “wait” command? It seems to lock all my keys up until the waiting period is over…

(Ifurita) #2

depends, what are you trying to do and what wait values are you using?

(Mr_Tickles) #3

Well, this is my script…

//  *****************************************
//  ** Teaze_Tickles' flashing name script **
//  *****************************************

// This procedure is namecombocombo, it renames with a specific waiting period twice.

set name1 "name ^9Teaze_Tickles^p.^/(www.specops-mod.tk)"
set name2 "name ^9Teaze_Tickles^p.^1<SpOps>"
set namecombo1 "vstr name1; wait 960"
set namecombo2 "vstr name2; wait 960"
set namecombocombo "vstr namecombo1; vstr namecombo2"

// This is the recursive section, when namefinalr is set to vstr namefinaloff by the
// procedure below, the recursion is broken.

set namefinalon "vstr namecombocombo; vstr namefinalr"
set namefinaloff "set namefinalr namefinalon"
set namefinalr "vstr namefinalon"

// This is the toggle section, it starts the above recursive procedure, and then breaks it
// by setting namefinalr to vstr namefinaloff.

set namefinaltoggleon "set namefinaltoggler vstr namefinaltoggleoff; vstr namefinalr"
set namefinaltoggleoff "set namefinaltoggler vstr namefinaltoggleon; set namefinalr vstr namefinaloff"
set namefinaltoggler "vstr namefinaltoggleon"
bind "INS" "vstr namefinaltoggler"

Plus, I was wondering if there is any way to prevent the renaming message in the console… I can see that that could be annoying for some people.

Edit:

A simpler version, but the result of the wait locking all keys is the same.

set n1 "name ^9Teaze_Tickles^p.^/(www.specops-mod.tk)"
set n2 "name ^9Teaze_Tickles^p.^1<SpOps>"

set ncombo1 "vstr name1; wait 960"
set ncombo2 "vstr name2; wait 960"

set nmcombo1 "vstr ncombo1; vstr ncombo2"
set nmcombo2 "vstr nmcombo1; vstr nmcombo1"
set nmcombo3 "vstr nmcombo2; vstr nmcombo2"
set nmcombo4 "vstr nmcombo3; vstr nmcombo3"

bind "HOME" "vstr nmcombo4"

please don’t anyone help him with a flashing name script unless you also post an “anti-flashing-name-script” script. thanks.

(Mr_Tickles) #5

lol, it’s not flashing, as in obscene. I just want people to stop asking what the website is.
I’ll try not to let out the script to noobs who just want to irritate others.
It could also be used for other things, not just name flashing…
I know what you mean though.

bind x “say my website is www.blahblah.com

(Mr_Tickles) #7

hmmm, yeah, that’s blatant in ya face advetising though. Not really going for that :S
I was reading through this site http://www.et-strategy.tk/ which does seem pretty good (I think it’s been mentioned on here before) nad was trying out some of their scripting stuff, and was just interested if it was possible to get a wait that doesn’t lock up, and maybe a rename which doesn’t write to the console each time.

(SCDS_reyalP) #8

No and No, I’m quite happy to say :bash:

Seriously, just bind a key to change your names between the two. Press it a couple times when you want to pimp your site.

(Mr_Tickles) #9

Meh, alright then, guess I’ll give up with that… even though you do get kicked for changing it too rapidly on some servers, so I wasn’t going for the flashing lights and colours move anyway.
