concerns about the PC version
Can u please give me such info that will proof that Brink is not concole port (i need it for forming arguments vs. ppl who not believe SD and not heard about ET and ETQW). But please only solid facts, words like “SD is a PC developer”, and “Every version has it own development platform” are no valid, becouse of many many others developers, who told ppl same things, and then we have games like Wolfenstein 2009 and Black Ops, words are just words, and i hope u will agree that any seller will not tell u a bad thing about it product. Thanks.
Why is it not valid that they said each version is being worked on individually? Is it not valid because you think they’re lying? Please… explain why it’s not valid for them… you can’t use “other developers said this” (which devs exactly?)… it’s not valid
The comprehension is that they’ve got more experience with PC games than console games, so this version should be the easiest for them as they know exactly what a PC version requires. The interpretation is up to yourself, you can be pessimist all you want… i’m using past games they’ve worked, the fact they know the engine inside and out as they worked on it extensively with Quake Wars, and also going with various conversations on here and on IRC.
I’m not proving anything to you, it makes no odds to me if you’re all doom and gloom want to believe the the stars are falling. A few people here have no vision, and are stuck on their favourite game and using that as a template and believe that every game needs to conform to that. Common sense is required… there just isn’t much of it going about.
I can’t help but agree with Kinjal. Even so I love SD and their previous games, even so I’ve seen Quake Wars’ server browser and its billions of filters and infos, and QW’s customizations option… I can’t help but being worry about Brink’s interface being dumbed down, seeing how all recents shooters tend to be really lazy on these points. I can’t help it.
And I put a lot of faith in Brink and Splash Damage !
Well, the proof is that Splash Damage’s previous games have all been PC exclusives that later got console ports. That’s the proof.
You can prove it.
They’ve made…
- [li]The MP component of Return to Castle Wolfenstein, which any PC gamer should be at least peripherally aware of. Saw a console port to PS2 and Xbox, two years later.[]Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory, which is free (the MP is, anyway), so if they don’t believe you, just have them download it. Never ported to console.[]The MP component of Doom 3, which again any PC gamer should be aware of even if they haven’t played it. Saw a console port to the Xbox nearly a year later.[*]Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars, which you can download the demo for on Steam. It did eventually see a port to the PS3 and Xbox 360, again almost a year later.
That’s their pedigree. When people say “they’re a PC developer,” they don’t mean theoretically, they mean that before Brink, they have only ever developed PC games.
emm…
"Richard ‘Rahdo’ Ham
My Favourite Games
Rhythm games like Elite Beat Agents and Guitar Hero, Infinity Ward’s Call of Duty titles"
I dont get your point
Rahdo is a xbox360 player to the core :D, more than half of the developers love PC games (Splash Damage >> About >> The People >> Team Profiles >> My Favourite Games) and shooting from the hip (Something for Everybody Interview ~ 04:04 - 04:13)

I hate to be a pessimist about this because I’m really looking forward to Brink but saying “They shouldn’t be compared to other developers because they’re PC developers.” is not enough to curb worries about interface simplification due to the consoles. Everyone thought the exact same thing about IW and Dice with CoD and Battlefield…see how those went…It’s foolish to take a dev’s word for anything these days. All we can do is wait and see.
The thing is - if my fears are groundless, and I’m wrong, it’s ok, I’ll be happy to be wrong, that’s mean I’m not waste my time creating a fan site for a console port, and the translation of HORSE compendium to Russian language was a good job. But what u guys gonna say if Brink will be the same as other project on the market, like Black Ops? U gona yell on forum like wolfenstein 2009 fans –“u told us, u told us!”? This would be the point?
But let’s just say (for a second) I’m a not an SD fan, and im asking u “Why Brink is not a console port?”
Your points:
- they’re a PC developer
And IW no? or Treyarch? Lets see the history for IW –
Call of Duty - Windows, Macintosh
Call of Duty 2 - Windows, Xbox 360
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare - Windows, Macintosh, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 - Windows, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360
Call of Duty: Classic - PlayStation 3 (PSN), Xbox 360 (XBLA)
People can fly maked a Painkiller for PC only, and now they have a bulletstorm there u can’t even jump.
So is it a strong argument?
- Every version has it own development platform

Strong argument?
You’re not going to get a satisfactory level of evidence so just sit down and be patient for release.
I’m not asking for it, but the only proofs would be actual screenshots of ingame options and serverbrowser. I don’t think anything else would be satisfying.

Call of Duty came out in a time relatively early in the PS2 and Xbox’s lifespan, and at least the PS2 featured limited multiplayer at best aside from LAN. I didn’t own an Xbox.
However, they’ve been developing a successful console fanbase since CoD2, and I’d say that 6 years of targeting the console market is enough to show a shift.
(As for Treyarch, don’t make me laugh. They were doing console ports since the very beginning.)
As for the PS3 comment—I hadn’t heard that (Went looking on HHG’s website, couldn’t find the interview) but he’s talking to the HipHop Gamer, who is a very well-known PS3 spokesman, and thing on PC and 360 are not pertinent to him based on what I’ve seen in previous interviews he’s done. If I were doing PR with a guy who was incredibly hyper-focused on the PS3, I would probably talk up how important the PS3 was to me.
For all words from SD to PC community
If I were doing PR with a guy who was incredibly hyper-focused on the PС, I would probably talk up how important the PС was to me. - dont u think?
Yes, that’s true. But can you point to anyone who’s done an interview with SD that routinely asks “Hey, man, listen, don’t care about consoles, is PC gonna be good?” I honestly don’t know. Because from what I’m seeing on most of the forum topics they deign to respond to (not that I’m complaining, it’s better than most places) they give pretty stock responses: They’re all good, etc.
Seems totally legit. I wonder if BongoBoy is still available.
YEP! Now I’m Ed Stern! I feel so much funnier now.

I stand corrected. Sorry, I come from a background of knowing a LOT of trolls. It’s not exactly odd for me to find people who are full of it.
