[COMPLETE] Quick Update Regarding Credits! 3/30/15

I guess I’ll have to try to play a couple of game to see how much it was raised. But if everyone is still complaining so far, I guess it’s not enough.

@Morty Alright, alright, calm down. Listen to me, Morty. I know that new situations can be intimidating. You lookin’ around and it’s all scary and different, but y’know… M-meeting them head-on, charging into 'em like bull—that’s how we grow as people. I’m no stranger to scary situations, I deal with them all the time. Now if you just stick with me, Morty— we’re gonna be— HOLY CRAP, MORTY, RUN!! RUN FOR YOUR LIFE, MORTY, RUN!! I KNOW, I’VE NEVER SEEN THAT THING BEFORE IN MY LIFE, MORTY, I DUNNO WHAT THE HELL IT IS!! WELL, WE GOTTA GET HERE, MORTY, IT GONNA KILL US!!! WE’RE GONNA DIE!!! WE’RE GONNA DIE, MORTY!!!

(Sorry, I had to. You pseudo is too awesome).

(For those who don’t know, it’s from Rick and Morty, episode 1).

If the strive for an artificial achievement is what brought you here, then no wonder you will get bored quickly, and that’s actually good for you, since the game is not about that and it ought not be, so you will have more fun elsewhere. Also restricting matchmaking until level X can hardly be called stripping the game of the social factor.

If there’s a plan to bring back the rest of mercs, then I agree, the credit rates are still low - unlocking all of them will take too much time for a single player to achieve full potential in such a game. However, in my opinion, instead of having players earn credits faster or mercs cost less, the cost should be dependant on the number of mercs already owned, so that the first few mercs are easy to acquire and a new player can get a feel for what’s ahead of them quicker. There’s no point in artificially grasping onto the new players by leashing them to a potential reward they won’t even enjoy if the whole game doesn’t fit their taste.

I know there’s a ton of people worrying about the outer layers instead of the core gameplay, but they are also arguably those who will abandon ship first, so make sure that, if you truly care about DB becoming big, you keep the priorities in mind.

Been playing beta before the Steam release. I came here to compete. But unlocking new stuff, or actually playing to unlock new stuff, makes me want to play and enjoy the game even more.
I’m really bad at Math, but let me try:
Fragger = 50 000 credits
1 game = 100 credits
You have to play 500 games to buy Fragger.
Average game length say 10 minutes. 500x10=5000 minutes, which is close to 80h.
So it takes 80h to unlock Fragger.
Again, I’m terrible at Math, feel free to correct me.
Regardless, game has turned into an endless grind. It’s not fun anymore, as much as I like it.
Well you forget the daily challenge XP, which fastens it up a lot, but it is slow regardless

I have an issue with the objectives that require you to collect 14000 xp. I got the one for combat experience and after the game it stated i had earned 5000 combat xp.however, on the progression bar 5000/14000 is just 15%. This feels strange to me.

Considering i have done 3 games and have atleast gotten 2000 combat xp from each game i should be atleast halfway done but according to the progression ive done less than 30%.

You forgot to include daily missions, which greatly increase the rate you gain credits. One mission is 600c so let say you finish one mission per day not including match earned credits.

The times three represents the 3 game you have to play for one mission.

That is 83.3 * 3 games for 50000 credits.

Now lets say you do all the daily mission everyday.

That only 27.7 * 3 games for 50000 credits.

Endless grinding? No instead you just have to work a little to unlock them merc.

This is my own opinion but in terms of grinding this games is on the standard level.

P.S. This is coming from someone who plays War Thunder, which has a ton of grinding for one tank/plane plus having to max out the equipment. However once again this is MY opinion so chill k?

P.S.S: Feel free to correct me

One suggestion I like to make is implementing a LOL system where as new merc are release old merc get reduced in price.

VERY glad to see this. I think a 66% or 100% increase would’ve been more appropriate, but it’s certainly a start.

(ivoryQuestion) #48

Awesome they increased it even more woot

(Stitchre) #49

And here I was feeling like I just had poor luck with crate drops! Glad to have such an active team behind this game!

(Eox) #50

Okay, so I tried the game since the update and I have to say it : it still feels too low. The end of missions credits should either be upped much more than that, or the merc cost should be decreased IMO. But at least you checked it, which is not something that every studio does. That’s a start.

Like others are saying, if you are playing this game for rewards, you are playing the wrong game. Will you get bored quickly then when you got the mercs you want?

If you are not having fun yet, then the right question is how to make it more fun, not how to make rewards faster.

And seriously, the cost of mercs is not exorbitant. If you wouldn’t pay for Dirty Bomb what you would pay for an average indie game, then is it really right to complain that your game experience is a bit limited for some time?

I could imagine that a lot of the frustration is from old beta players who don’t get the excitement of trying out a new game. This will be different for players who are really new to the game. Also, once the game is released it will be easier to compete because there will be more newbs, while pros will move on to competitive mm and scrimming instead of stomping you on casual pubs. It will probably make the game experience much more relaxed, no matter which mercs you are playing with.

I have been playing the game for a week now and I’m having a blast (literally with all the explosives…bad joke sorry…).

I can relate to some people thinking the game might be a bit repetitive in its current state but It is a beta and all maps and stuff isnt out (because lets face it, maps are a huge part of fps games).

The only thing in terms of rewards that i would actually care about if they added that I feel would improve my experience is cosmetic stuff for the mercs. New camos for weapons and mercs (new skins too if that is possible would be great). It just adds that little extra bit of gratification when you get a really cool skin.

(RyuKaiser) #53

I still think if they dropped a few of the requirements for Daily Missions by half, and made it so that you always had daily missions for Support, Objectives, and Killing, this would be less of an issue.

(appreciativeBuster) #54

I saw a guy with 40k creds on stream last night.

You guys are whiners lol

Tradeup is something expensive

(adroitHalberd) #55

kind of wish trade up was free or atleast cost less, since unlockign mercs is the main money sync

Must have been me, but I’ll usually get 20-30k xp per game. Make it rain!
