Complaint about ET

(|X|Avenger) #21

With deference to the other posters who have been with the RTCW community such as SCDS_Reyalp and Ifurita, I would have to agree that the voting system should stay as it is for the time being. Remember the heated debate on arty and airstrike tks over at PW when the RTCW demo was released?

So far, the complaint system works the same way it was intended to work, and the same way it worked it RTCW. When the demo first came out for RTCW, we had the same problem of people running into airstrikes and purposely complaining to get the Lt kicked. After a while though, players generally became intolerent of this type of behavior and some server admins would just kick players who chose to purposely get tk’d so they could complain. In the few weeks since the ET Test came out, I’ve noticed that admins and players alike are staring to become intolerent of people who complain for mine tks. Give this some time and the problem will fix itself; most players who enjoy complaining when tk’d by mines will not be playing ET a month from now. If you couldn’t complain for mine tks, mark my words, you’d have at least some evil players planting mines to foul up their own team. Besides that, servers can turn complaining off, and there are already a few servers who run like this. SD does not need to provide a global fix for this problem.

That being said, Iamthefallen’s ideas, stated above, are good ideas that could be implemented.

I never checked whether my caps was on, I type well enough not to have to look at the screen after every letter, I was in a hurry (real-life stuff, i’m sure you remember?) and I’ll be damned if I’m gonna re-write the whole thing because you have a crap life and feel compelled to have a go at other people.

I could just as easily bitch at you for starting your sentence with “and” but my dicks big enough for me not to let things so insignificant get to me so personally.

How on earth do you have the cheek to tell me to “think things through”? lmao.

1> vote him off.
2> go engineer and disarm them.
3> jump over the flags (that’s the space bar).

I think even you will agree it’s a better scenario than having the most experience engineers who are the difference between winning and losing matches all kicked instead.

I rarely complain, but sometimes the mines are really annoying. Some engineers put them in really really stupid places. One stupid thing is if they completely mine doors or entrances (for example the door leading out of the axis base). So you can see the mines but you can’t get through.

Why not place the mines leaving a way for the teammates ? The enemy can’t see them anyway (usually), so maybe place 'em something like this

| |

    *
    *
* *

instead of

| |
| |

* *

I hope you can see what I mean ? The * are the mines, above is the door/entrance whatever.

The second stupid thing if there’s a mine where you wouldn’t expect it. This happened often to me. I was fighting with some enemy, sidestepped or walked backward to avoid enemy fire, and stepped on a mine in the middle of nowhere.

I didn’t complain though, I only complain if someone tks on purpose.

What kind of poll offers “Yes, No, Never Notice, Hell Yeah!”

Sorry what’s the practicle difference between “Hell Yeah” and “Yes” ?

If you insist on going that route you should make it fair by adding “Hell No!”

How about a poll “Do you believe in democracy?” -

“No”
“Yes”
“You bet I do”

OR

“Am I stupid?”

“No”
“Yes”
“Damn right I am”

Or even better -

“Is ET a good game?”

“Yes”
“Yeah man it’s awesome”
“Yeah ET rocks!”

I think the best solution would be to change the text to “You stepped on xxx’s mine” and remove the file complaint option. After all you can disarm mines by simply throwing a nade on them or just votekick the offender in case there’s really someone trying to abuse mines. The way it is now it is a lot more annoying for regular players than it is for lamers.

I place mines where the enemy runs. I space mines so if you’re smart you can jump over them. I also respond: “You see the big (red/blue) flags with ‘M’ on them dumba$$, that means it’s a mine, don’t step on it or you die.”

Personally watch where you walk. I have never filed on a friendly mine because it was my dumb a$$ that stepped on it.

i’m a engineer a lot, i hate it when ppl step on my mines, especially when they know that i led them down somewhere, i also hate it when other eng step on my mines to lay them down somewhere else (mostly not very logic places)

LOOOL… or how about:

Am I The best ET player ever ?

“probably not”
“probably”
“for sure”
“hell yes”

hehe…

But to be serious for a moment… perhaps, as I’ve sugested before,
mines could have a sever cvar “sv_friendly_mines”, so that team-mates
can’t trip them?
Running though a set of flagged mines would be simple in real life.
I would imagine that on a Pub server this would work very well, and
if a clan wants to run “pure” then they can… I just hate the fact that
mines arn’t being used to their fullest cos engineers are fearful of being
kicked by blind & stupied Team-mates.(blind cos they stepped on a
team-mates mine & stupied cos they filed a complaint for it)

quete:
"3> jump over the flags (that’s the space bar). "

too many times ive seen this when spectating
people who think they can jump over a mine Field and noticed they were wrong and then gets killed by own mines…(complaint filed)
it almost looks usually like they think they can fly or something

i dont even understand these people who think its legimate to file a complaint for walking into a mine field
i my self havent filed complaints if i walk into mine … why would i?

cheers
