compile battery

Hi there,

after the mapsources have been released and I checked the battery_final.map file I did some changes and wanted to do a simple testcompile BSP -meta only.
Now I get the following error:

LoadPCX: Couldn’t read battery_ocean.pcx

And q3map2 closes again.

The file battery_ocean.pcx , battery.pcx , battery.script and any other files are in the maps folder + the pak0.pk3 is unzipped already so I do not understand why it gives this error.

Any ideas ? Pls help me =)

^ there could be some serious changes for 20vs20 players, plus he need help with his error, not your opinion.

i agree with DeatH the original is good enough, no need to make copys :slight_smile: But The .pcx has to be in the etmain-directory. If i am correct. If not sorry :stuck_out_tongue:

Battery is fine as it is.

Is an opinion, however discouraging new developers, telling them to give up is a bit rude.

Plus, helping this guy to compile his will also help him in the future, also for other maps. Developing new stuff goes alot quicker with the right expierence.

Battery IS NOT perfect as it is, especially if your have it on a server with 32 players.

If its a 6 vs 6, then yes. Its perfect.

As battery was a singleplayer map, it was unbalanced to give the AI some chance.
You need to rework the start, where the allied are open and are being supressed by the axis.
You should really try to make a new map, maybe one that looks like battery, but for learning purposes, rework battery.

Sorry a bit of topic, but the only change I would like to see on original maps is Railgun. The axis spawn point is quite isolated and can be cut off by allies. I would like to see, for example, a tunnel outside the axis spawn point to another location outside the axis spawnpoint aria.

The only possible reason to modify the maps is to give it another atmosphere.

umm not only, I modified for example Fueldump, so it’s now uses less hunk_megs and can be played with NQ-mod
and good luck eIM, hope u’ll make some interesting changes (take a look also on Battery-recharged, from 2Bit)

well, you can play on fuel dump just by changing com_hunkmegs… no need to modify map.
