Competitive Play

Hi all

Very new to the fps scene, stumbled across the free enemy territory and I am now hopelessly addicted

I used to play a lot of RTS games, where rated play was the most popular form of playing. If you won, you got x points, if you lost, you lost x points.

Since starting ET I have found myself doing fairly well, finishing top xp in most games, getting decent kill/death ratio’s, and find myself wanting to play more competitive games, meaning either playing in games that actually mean something or in games with better players.

As someone so new to the genre I have no idea where to start, so my question is how do I go about getting into some league/tourny games? Is it possible to enter alone? Or do i need my clan to join also?

there are ladders for ET - like TWL team warfare league - and they are all clan based. you can drag your clan into this - or try to hook up w/ one who are competing in the ladders

alot of ET clans have irc channels - most seem to be in irc.gamesnet.net

my clans chan is #wickedmojo - feel free to stop by and Ill do what I can to introduce you around - also #bloodshed - big clan lots of good guys also #wolfjaeger #nd80 - these are US east coast/central clans. if youre in europe then … Im not much help to ya : )

there is also a lively scrim pick up game scene too - lots of competitive fun w/out the hassels of ladder play (scheduling server selection etc)

as luck would have it I’m in europe, not seen a ping under 100 on ASE for US server so don’t think there is a lot of point joining in with you guys

Perhaps some europeans have irc channels they could share/let me in on?

Finally, out of curiosity, who are the current top world clans/players? How can I find this out? In the RTS game i played (age of kings) you could see who was world number one on a daily basis, and watch his recorded games…would be nice to see who was the god of ET

there is some UK and euro clans and stuff there.

There is no way to see who the top player is. TBH, the idea of a top player doesn’t make much sense in a team game. There could be a top clan, but ET competition is so new that there isn’t really one. The most skilled players/clans from RTCW do very well in ET.

you can always pop by at irc.progameplayer.com(6667) #fly-swarm we just set up thi channel so not everyone in the clan knows about it yet, we’re international, but most of us ET players come from europe
