I’m still amazed that people think that the notion of whether or not you can shoot and sprint says anything, ANYTHING AT ALL at the general speed of the game.
Say that shooting + sprinting is allowed, at no penalty whatsoever. Then the function of sprinting is reduced to only having to hold one more key all the time while playing the game.
It’s so simple, are people really this thick?
Depends if sprinting is unlimited or not, being able to sprint and shoot in ET which had limited sprint meant you could save your stamina till you entered a fire fight allowing you to move faster whilst you engaged the enemy hoping he just used all his sprint to arrive at your location and in this instance I don’t think the penalty should be that great.
People want unlimited sprinting at no penalty. What they fail to realise then is that they’re then just asking for one singular base speed to perform all actions at. In other words, they don’t have a sodding clue what they’re talking about. It’s the ‘we want it all’ attitude. Might as well make the whole thing instagib mode while we’re at it.

It is fun, as a standalone mode in a standalone game with one really specific form of simplicity. Taking all nuances and variation out of a game to focus down on one particular aspect IS a fun thing to do in shooters. It’s just doesn’t stay fun for very long and eventually people long for more depth than that.
Just read the bloody replies this thread has been getting. But yeah it’s not unusual for people to hold conflicting positions and then follow it up by denying it altogether.
Well it’s welcome because instagib CAN be fun. It’s just not always and everywhere appropriate.
