Community in brink

(Ajax's Spear) #21
Ajax, you know a fair amount of posters consider Apples, you and myself, at the very least, to be jerks. Argue for your position and it is inevitable. Maybe LyndonL too, but his posts more often amuse me.

Shadowcat still has jerk potential, and Seyu seems to stick to what he knows.
Oh, I totally admit to being a jerk. I wasn’t excluding myself one bit. That’s how the online community is for just about any game, though. There are noobs and there are jerks. There’s no inbetween. Once your noob-dom is through, you’re automatically on to being a jerk from there on out. And since the community is usually always growing, there are always noobs, noobs on the cusp of being jerks, and jerks. It never reaches a critical mass where everyone is a jerk.

^^^Most definitely also a jerk. Albeit a more likable one than most. Feel better now?

(Nail) #22

oh yeah, jerk this

:penguin:

Ajax isn’t a jerk. He’s a nice guy who has a bad day every day.

I’m a noob AND a jerk, though.

(Ajax's Spear) #25

That isn’t fair, Apoc. That mangirl is not a jerk at all. Heshe was just trying to whiteknight for someone.

^^^ Jerk.

Naw, brah. This is me on a good day.

With the exception of H0RSE, I’ve yet to see a member here with over 1000 posts who can be objective and inspiring. I don’t see post count as credentials or prestige, that’s just the way it correlates. Members with under 20 posts over use the tapir emoticon. Ajax apparently is a fool to be roomed with a skinhead but has since posted mostly reasonable things. Herandar usually says what needs to be said and doesn’t care if people retaliate. Both of the active effeminate posters (NWS google: gndkayla. surprise, profile pic is there) on this forum are male. There are a handful of 50-150 post ranged members who had their lengthy embarrassment thread and haven’t been seen since. When they realized they were wrong they resorted to trolling to try and save face since they valued their handful of post reputation. They’re probably lurking with new accounts for now. Brbrbr remains an enigma. He cannot communicate with English but actively posts his unrelated responses based on his interpretation of a post. 3 Suns has a Bill avatar and usually posts insightful things. Coolaguy can eloquently relate psychology to the specifics of video games. Unfortunately the concepts he shares are usually already known only by the people with the attention span to read his posts. I don’t participate often enough to remember everyone, but I still retain a feel for general demeanor if people’s avatars don’t change.

(LyndonL) #27

Quick… everyone change avatars

(Ajax's Spear) #28

Nah, my roomies are good guys. I’m sure they were just drunkenly trying to make my life harder, and didn’t actually mean what they had posted- though to be honest I never actually saw it.

(Linsolv) #29

Everyone change avatars except Ajax and Auzner. I happen to enjoy spaghetti westerns and as such I have to approve of Lee van Cleef and Clint Eastwood.

Otherwiese do what you want.

(Shadowcat) #30

Aww, no mention for me :frowning:

Also, you might want to point out that GNDKayla is in fact an adult star, so don’t do the search if you are offended by that, or are in a place where having that on the screen would be bad.

Auzner and I are the baddest asses to ever grace these forums. Sure, he may be smarter and slightly older than I, and a better shot, but I’ve got the energy and stomach behind my gun. He keeps me out of as much trouble as I get myself into.

(Auzner) #32

I was counting on someone who says that to be someone I +repped once. But you just joined a few weeks ago.

NWS/NSFW covers that. Those are initialisms that should be known as widely as “lol”.

You’re probably older than me… though I was born before the i486DX

Dude, stop breaking character.

(Auzner) #34

Why would I roleplay Colonel Mortimer on a Brink forum?

Wow, im stupid LOL.

Ive honestly never seen “NWS”, only ever seen the “NSFW”

(Ajax's Spear) #36

Just in this thread, for fun? I thought we had a good thing going here :frowning:
Im a quakewars veteran from way back, never played ET but i have lots of friends i met in QW that couldnt stop talking about how great it was. The main reason Im looking forward to this game is that feeling of a real community quakewars seemed to have, and i genuinely hope it continues with this game. What im getting at is now adays most FPS games especially modernwarfare 2 if anybody went through that horrible fiasco with no dedicated servers full of hackers and rude ass people, it was like a constant barrage of stupid. While there was occasional rude people in quakewars i mean you always get those people in everything its inevitable but i was really impressed by how much quakewars through the years reminded me of a warm safe place in my gaming library that no matter how far i strayed i could always come back to.

Id took a break from playing quakewars to play other games and its been a year or more since i played, when i came back i ran into more than one familiar face that was like Hey! Wow i havent seen you in forever. Just kindve amazing to me when a game community its that close knit that people remember you years later. I just really hope Brink has that kindve cohesiveness in the community and can be a new virtual home for alot of people.

Just basically want to say i look forward to gaming with all of you in the many months and years to come in brink and look forward to lots of good games.

I plan to preorder a server as soon as i can find out where to get them from, im more excited about this game than ive been about anything in a long time. :penguin:
See you in Brink!

George Carlin called them Maniacs (anyone driving faster than you) and Assholes (anyone driving slower than you)

(Linsolv) #38

Question: How do you respond to allegations that Lee van Cleef was beaten in a gunfight by a young Giuliano Gemma?

(Auzner) #39

I didn’t mean to summon a sad face. I take roleplaying very seriously despite not practicing it much. Like the neckbeardy forums where they have dedicated sections to RP. If the setting was Forgotten Realms Faerun I couldn’t RP Spaghetti Western there. Also I chose a famous character and not one of my own creation so it’s even more frowned upon. Hay guyz I’m Drizzt. I feel like I get more self respect from this post rather than obliging the public. Maybe I should watch out for this more because I get similar reactions in real life with these things. If everyone watched ‘Community’ I could just tell them my thought process and daily interaction with people is about 99% of what the character Abed does.

(Ajax's Spear) #40

No worries, partner. Just if Indio comes around, remember to watch my back and I’ll watch yours. If all goes well, we can split the take.
