command post balancing problem

There is an issue regarding the shelves full of health and ammo near the command posts. They make people nigh on invincible.

Today I played Covert Ops and snuck into the allied command post right near their very first spawn. After my usual fun of sniping them in the back, I was discovered and realised all I had to do was stand next to the health shelf and I couldn’t be defeated.

I wiped out about 5 guys that came in and tried their luck until eventually three of them rushed me at once and took me down.

The 20 health a second makes it ridiculously hard to take on anyone who is standing by the shelves. By rights I should have been pavement pate from the second guy in there as both were using tommys and I was down to my pistol.

They weren’t thinking

panzer, flamethrower… and you would be out in an instance

heck, a grenade properly timed would kill you too in no time

right, and had they aimed for your head you’d be dead in no time.
Besides, I doubt that it’s 20 health/sec, more like 5 health/sec.
The guys rushing in probably made some nice holes to your left and right instead of hitting you.

Besides, I doubt that it’s 20 health/sec, more like 5 health/sec.

Some of the health shelves do only give 5 a second, but this particular one was giving me a lot more than 5 a second. I went form nearly dead to full health in about 5 seconds flat.

And yeah, grenades or panzers would do the trick, but that’s not really the point. They shouldn’t have to use an extremely powerful weapon to remove one little guy from a hut. I wasn’t Neo.

it’s not so much that it’s x health/second, rather it’s the number of health packs in the rack and how quickly they replenish themselves. The ammo racks start off with something like 15-17 “pack equivalents” before they’re empty, then refill slowly. I’d imagine it’s the same with health packs

(damocles) #6

That’s still a lot of health for one guy. Personally I think you should have to ‘use’ the rack to get the health. At least that way it’s there for people who need it, and not easy to get in a firefight.

I agree. It doesn’t really make alot of sense that you get healthier just standing next to it. Making it a usable object would force you to face the shelves if nothing else. I do not know if use would be restricted to one person though. Even if it were, I think I would still prefer the ‘usable’ shelves over the automatic ones.

That is a very good idea - it also makes people think about picking each pack rather than standing there drinking from the fountain

Since its next to Allied spawn your not gonna last long there no matter if you get 20 hp a second and since this part of the map is not in use for that long ,wich it wont be if its a good allied team, its not a problem, not only that its not hard to run in with smg and take enemy out in there, since if they want hp from it they after stand still wich makes for an easy target.

Also this isnt a command post its more of a ammo/health dump and you do get 20 hp per second from it plus ammo.

Command posts are the ones what need constructing and then give 5 hp and ammo, but the main advantage is that they give a faster rate of re-charge to your charge bar.

FWIW, the ammo rack holds 20 packs and recharges at one pack per minute. I’ll assume the health rack operates similarly
