Closed Beta Update

(Smooth) #141

Exactly, I’m glad you understand it, this isn’t going to be anything like an Open Beta.

As I see it, we’re mainly going into Closed Beta to diversify our audience, get more players on board (it’d be nice to have full servers 24/7) and to test the new (and old) infrastructures.

Do you really think that the empty servers are a problem of the current player base? You invited many ppl lately and the average player count did drop even tho more ppl were able to play it.

(trickykungfu) #143

haha 20 days time? XD

I think Nexon is pressuring u guys because they want this game on the market ASAP…
Even though, it would be nice to have people playing on servers 24/7, that’s true.
Although I think the reviews and comments we as alpha testers gave / give are diverse already.

(Mustang) #145

I’ll be honest, I’ve mostly only been playing pre-arranged games recently because it’s a lot of hassle to:

 • Wait for verify
 • Launch game
 • Suffer super slow in-game server browser
 • Check servers for players
 • Close game
 • Launch teamspeak
 • Launch game
 • Suffer super slow in-game server browser
 • Join server
 • Wait for load

The time and effort required has more than tripled since the server browser was removed from the launcher, hope it comes back soon™.

(OwNLY) #146

We already have a lot of players in the alpha.
But very much of them are not even playing because they dont like the gameplay…

If this would get fixed, you would have a lot more full servers.

(RasteRayzeR) #147

I was suprised the Beta (even closed), would come so fast. I have little or no experience in game development, but from a software development point of view it looks a bit rushed to me.

How many more players will join us with the closed beta ?

(badman) #148

You can make your account at any time, even during the transfer.
The decision to start the CB on october 1st was made yesterday and then you announce it, thats ok. But why did Destiny already know months ago, that the Beta starts in october?

Anyway, now its useless to discuss this.

Do we have to do anything regarding the migration to nexon? I made an account already there, do you need the acc data so that I get access to the beta?
All you’ll need is a Nexon account, and our migration tool will take care of the rest.

And to answer your other point, Destiny’s beta is not the same as Nexon’s, hence the initial disparity in dates. Both operators have different testing schedules which are related to their respective platform integration efforts. Nexon’s date was being shifted around right until they announced it.

On a related note, everyone in the Founder’s Club will get access to the Closed Beta a day early.

You have 0 idea, why i’m playing or not playing the game, there is no place for generalization.

But if you are interested, i will tell you, my main reason is already kinda explained by Mustang #145

So if there isn’t a server with atleast 8 or 9 players, i don’t even join. The way you can check for servers is painful, so i don’t even bother, especially if i already checked for it around 20:30-21:00.

(Protekt1) #150

I’m with S0und_ and mustang on this one. I am not playing not due to gameplay so much as the process to get in game. The login client is a pain atm. Sometimes it takes 5 minutes to get past verification and I have a very strong connection.

And even though there are more players in the alpha, US servers still aren’t as populated as I’d like to see. It’s like I have to hit the lottery to play on a US server to be quite honest. Playing in some pugs on the US server has been a great deal of fun. Even playing on UK servers has been fun at times but people mostly seem to want to play objective or when sw is finally chosen they don’t want to put any effort into balancing teams.

I am very happy to see that some kinda ladder or comp play is being worked on. That will be what really drives the game into the competitive market. You really can’t have a competitive game without the support being built into it from day 1. Even hearthstone is going to be structured like sc2 and while I am not saying it would necessarily be gainful to copy their system, it would be gainful to have a system that works as well as it does.

(Mustang) #151

Was just about to suggest this might be a good idea.

(S0und_) #152

I have a question, are we gonna get “keys” for the closed beta? To invite our friends/ex-clan mates.

(Bloodbite) #153

+1 for this

(iwound) #155

If your having trouble confirming your nexon account. it needs internet explorer. firefox not working for that part. not for me anyhoo.

(n4ts) #156

I already asked dat! ^^

(Protekt1) #157

Should we make a nexon account now or wait til we can migrate?

(Seanza) #158

Make one now.

Source: badman

(badman) #159

You’ll be asked to sign into your Nexon account during the migration, so you can either make one now (this will save you time later), or do it during the migration process.

Actually the way I see it (with my limited time with it) is that Extraction has been in closed beta during the “alpha” (how many are directly involved with development?), and this new beta moniker is just a buzzword for an extended beta invite program. To give off the perception of progress to whoever is bankrolling this project. Then when the open [strike]beta[/strike] demo is launched, what is technically the end product (Ca$h shop anyone) the word beta is then used as a excuse for faulty and or unfinished software.

This is why I find this worrying.
This is going to be one of those general replies that Seanza loves…

We’ve said this a few times in the past – Extraction is not a product that’s going to go on a disc and ‘ship’. Instead, it’s very much an on-going service and, unlike our past games, Extraction will continue to evolve and change.

In other words, the big changes are not going to stop happening just because we’re moving into the Closed Beta phase. Sure, some things are going to get locked down as we get closer to launch (for example, the general direction of each of the Mercs so we don’t double up on them), but we will not stop doing substantial updates just because the game is out of alpha.

More updates, both humongous and small, will be coming your way throughout the rest of the alpha, the Closed Beta, the Open Beta, and well beyond launch.
What I find amusing is that there is a (probable) lie within that post concerning the updates during what little time is left in the “Alpha” stage.

EDIT
Infact I am going to quote this question hear as in previous betas I have been it they have had driver profiles!
As this is going to be thrust into beta (in around a week) are we going to at least have a driver profile for AMD & Nvidia to ally some of the general patchy performance? Are there going to be more maps than four “beta” ready?

Also how does the game perform under Windows 8?
