Exactly, I’m glad you understand it, this isn’t going to be anything like an Open Beta.
As I see it, we’re mainly going into Closed Beta to diversify our audience, get more players on board (it’d be nice to have full servers 24/7) and to test the new (and old) infrastructures.
Actually the way I see it (with my limited time with it) is that Extraction has been in closed beta during the “alpha” (how many are directly involved with development?), and this new beta moniker is just a buzzword for an extended beta invite program. To give off the perception of progress to whoever is bankrolling this project. Then when the open [strike]beta[/strike] demo is launched, what is technically the end product (Ca$h shop anyone) the word beta is then used as a excuse for faulty and or unfinished software.
This is why I find this worrying.
This is going to be one of those general replies that Seanza loves…
We’ve said this a few times in the past – Extraction is not a product that’s going to go on a disc and ‘ship’. Instead, it’s very much an on-going service and, unlike our past games, Extraction will continue to evolve and change.
In other words, the big changes are not going to stop happening just because we’re moving into the Closed Beta phase. Sure, some things are going to get locked down as we get closer to launch (for example, the general direction of each of the Mercs so we don’t double up on them), but we will not stop doing substantial updates just because the game is out of alpha.
More updates, both humongous and small, will be coming your way throughout the rest of the alpha, the Closed Beta, the Open Beta, and well beyond launch.
What I find amusing is that there is a (probable) lie within that post concerning the updates during what little time is left in the “Alpha” stage.
EDIT
Infact I am going to quote this question hear as in previous betas I have been it they have had driver profiles!
As this is going to be thrust into beta (in around a week) are we going to at least have a driver profile for AMD & Nvidia to ally some of the general patchy performance? Are there going to be more maps than four “beta” ready?
Also how does the game perform under Windows 8?
