you are right if you see it like i think SD sees the game. If it comes to the individual merc system most mercs don’t differ enough but if you see it as CS GO kind of game it is far away from balanced.

Big problem n1 knows what SD wants… All those posts are a waste of time for us. We where never really involved into this development!

They want some kind of Team Fortress game.

W:ET was just RTCW + TF
ETQW was just BF + some ET element + TF
Brink was some wierd creature.
DB will be Brink 2 I assume

Second pass on the maps both for performance and obj tweaks…

Mouse input lag tweaks.

Merc animation and speed tweaks.

Overall boost in FPS

Small Weapons tweaks.

Small merc ability tweaks.

Rank system for completion just like what LOL has and this game will be ultra addicting…

There’s been lots of talk about the cards but I feel they can be sweet if they implemented correctly… Unlocking is the first step boom bam… Then the sky is seriously the limit… buying, selling or trading however look at what that did to D3… Real Money Auction house ruined the game… Cards should be account bound with the ability to swap doubles and options to either customize or strengthen the cards somehow… Customization is key… Give the player the power and use their imagination…

Testing Screen or feedback put into the game… Things like a lagometer, more detailed FPS, more detailed MS lag numbers, a mouse input hz and input lag chart and numbers and FPS Max high and low image for testing.

Fix Turrets!!!

Faster Ammo from Stations…

OMG fix the stupid car explosions!!! It either looks like it is all ready blown up or it explodes like 3 times!!

More visible people while on Turret… I was sniping and sometimes the player was unhittable…

add prone… You can already tell people are just aiming right and left with 0 pitch…

Some interesting comments here. We’ve made a concerted effort to be more transparent with the thought behind our decisions, but I’m still seeing a lot of the same frustrations. As far as I’m concerned, we haven’t deviated from the direction that I’ve been posting about for the last few months. If some feel like some changes aren’t aligning with that, please continue to put these forward in a constructive manner!

I have to admit that I’m a bit surprised at the reaction to this latest update, because really it was quite a small one in terms of overall changes… we mostly have tried to fix the biggest issues that you all have raised with the previous release, and not much else.

The changes in the last couple of patches are heated issues here…
Some people really liked how things were and others hated it. You changed and pleased some of the vocal minority and in turn frustrated a new group of players. If things where imbalanced or broken then its fair enough if the changes need to be done. The infighting here has reached quite a peak though.

Also while making moves to fix things you have introduced a huge bunch of new issues in the previous couple of patches that are really quite frustrating. Also due to the number of recent stat resets the majority of players have been playing the game for over a month with just a handful of mercs to choose from.

I think mostly people (me included) are more concerned with the direction and quality of design changes rather than we are the actual changes themselves.

I kind of need examples in order to further this discussion… you’ve managed to not mention any specific issue other than the patch problems and progression resets, both of which we’ve posted about previously. Yes there were mistakes on our end, and we’re taking steps to prevent them from happening again.

When “direction and quality of design changes” is mentioned, I’m having to assume that this refers to implementation rather than our communications with you all?

I talk about these things with you guys all the time (IRC)
I feel you are balancing weapons into insignificance by not offering differing play styles that deviate from the standards.
I feel while the shotguns did need some work the choice made my SD was possibly the worst of a dozen potential ways of doing it.
Simple things like poor limitations being put onto the FOV knocking out 70-100 FOV from previous patches.
Your primary gamemode lacks many important aspects that make games fun to watch and play.
How depth seems to be removed patch after patch.
The way you designed size to be linked directly to HP and SPEED.
The lack of direction when it comes to some of the core elements, leaving the game feeling pretty generic.
Poor priority management in terms of the new GI based character lighting system that wile looking a little better will have less visibility and performance then simpler solutions (half brights).

I could go on mate.
These are just some of the things from the last patch.

The games QUALITY is not an issue!
I feel the games DESIGN is.

From my POV there haven’t been any significant changes with weapon balance in months, so I’m curious, what are the specifics that lead to this impression?

Smooth will have to detail that further; I know he’s already made some changes internally. Do you feel this change was out of alignment with direction or just poor?

Yep, that was a mistake.

I happen to agree with a lot that you outlined in your previous video, but can’t say much more other than to point out that you all haven’t seen significant updates to Stopwatch and Objective modes in a while now.

It’s certainly not the intention, what is causing this impression?

Great discussion between you and Pix.

Glad to see shotguns are still being worked on… They are probably the most annoying thing to get one shot killed… Plus learning that headshots with the shotgun do nothing for most mercs… Hopefully a cool dynamic is added and a skill level can be added to this gun so its just not one shot kills…

Im interested to hear more about issue’s with mouse lag or input lag… What tests have been going on at SD and so on… What setting we should use to accomplish the lowest input OR the highest FPS??

Im interested to hear more about up and coming map tweaks? I really dont like this area team grab thing and still dont understand why there is no 1 way doors, dyno wall explosions to advance, flag spawn grabs or more exciting obj runs… This has been talked about for 1.5 years and are some of the biggest things in a SW game mode.

Talking about game modes I can not wait for OLTL!! That was so fun to mess around with back in the day. Sniper was super OP in it with a good team covering you… What I do not like is everyone going shotgun and blasting away in that game mode to where it breaks it…

This takes me to the OBJ game mode… What is up with it??? 8 v 8? Spam fest… Most times the offense cant get by the first objective… Listen I hate TDM but wouldnt you think it would be better then Obj? Only playing one side of the map where Defense has a huge advantage? Cant SD come up with 3rd game mode that is unique? SW, OLTL and Something?

I agree with pix also about the speed vs HP link… Not sure I am a fan… You are adding another variable to balance…

Wall jump is a gimmick and if kept needs a crap ton of work… Same with Long Jump ugh…

Side Note: I saw the Canary Wharf on TV yesterday!!! I lol’ed!!! Some tunnel project CrossRail or something… Thought it was cool digging holes and what not haha!!!

you need to remember, that you do not get feedback from players that have 20-30-40 fps.
i only make some comments on maps and cards. cannot play normally and thus cannot base my feedback on “not normal” play.
lots of my mates stopeed playing because they rage about laggs and fps drops.

i think shotguns really have to be 1 shot kill. For me the most annoying thing is the damage over distance is far to high.

I disagree you are a very fast merc with the ability to RLRL, jump off all or long jump a mile past and enemy…

2 HS should be a minimum… 3 Body shots… Balance it out…

You turn a corner an there is a shot gun boom dead wow! It feels so dumb… Even if you react faster and get 2 or 3 HS it still doesnt kill them in time.

COD shotguns feel so much better even though they are even more powerful…

The thing I like about this video is:
#1) The mouse aim is crisp
#2) I actually start to warm up after the beginning of the video… Something I notice in every game I play except DB…

Hoping to get you all a comprehensive update on this as well, quite a fire has been lit under it. We weren’t able to get any significant performance improvements into this past update because the tasks were too big, but there are a lot of positive steps being taken in that area at the moment. I’m just not all that qualified to talk about that area, hence more technical types working on the update.
