Which, in my opinion, is a quality that both W:ET and ETQW had but Brink lacked.

Today I finally had that giddy mischievous feeling of being a defender, sneaking past the attackers wave and ruining their plans from behind. Just like the good old days again.

So yeah. DB functions perfectly in bigger games.

Doubt it is just that, there are clearly some bugs that have snuck through testing, we just need to track them down.

First Impressions are very bad…!

1.) amazing sound lags and echos (underground is unplayable)

2.) performance is much lower at the last build ( warping, lagging, infight lags)

3.) hit indicator , when i turned off …ist still on!!!

4.) only 1 squad ( you cannot save more squads…

this game is only 4 intel users … for all amd user ist better to play a other game…!

sry 4 flame but this is the bottom line…

what buggs me most:
performance.
i have even lower fps. i did get 100-110 on safe areas with small amount of players before. but now i have 50-60 in spawn. that go to 30-40 midfight. and even 20 with 8v8

My performance got worse (12s server). I am dipping into the 60s now :confused:

There is also a lot of micro-stutters. Still trying to see if something in particular is causing this (a sound or action).

Terrible dip in perfs too, can’t really enjoy.
Oh and also: none of the existing maps really work on obj 16 players anymore, to think it used to be fun last year.

We know there is a stutter when others connect to the server, probably that

OK i’m already bored … this is not fluid at all …
when FPS say 120 it feel like 60 and big FPS drops to 40 on 16 players servers.

This with the low contrast of enemy players and new camera effect when dead make me sick, but real motion sickness.
When I play 20 min I have my eyes bleeding to death. Just not possible …

I got a good config, all is clean cause it’s my working station (system reinstal every 6 months)
with a GTX 780 OC / i73820 / 32Go Ram / and all drives in SSD. So I expect the game to run well on this config, I mean get at least 120 FPS stable, with a real 120 FPS feeling. This is clearly not the case actually.

I made a test with some others games on unreal engine and all is fine, I got more than 200FPs all in high settings, with more people online and biggest maps. Same on the others engines.
I know it’s beta thing and you will optimise the game before open beta, but clearly the motion sickness make me stop playing this game for the moment.

Quick feedback after playing a good while today:

  • performance got worse (no matter if 6on6 or 8on8), my average value is around 90 fps which doesn’t feel smooth at all

  • audio is still messed up, many bugs as well

  • bobbing and odd animations everywhere for instance just right before die your screen gets a shake, absolutely horrible

  • I can’t explain it detailed yet, but spotting enemies got much harder - something with the visibility is off

  • low TTK which doesn’t encourage tracking based aim - you decreased the spread now please adjust the damage accordingly!

  • why does it still take an eternity to get in a match? I’m referring to the unnecessary waiting time (15sec) to join and so on…

My 2 cents, because I mostly agree with what everyone else is saying, except …

  • not having any problems seeing enemies, not sure where that’s coming from. I did stick everything on low before even playing a round however, so maybe that’s why.

2 biggest issues for me …

  • bobbing around all over the place, during fights, when dead, feels very laggy and jittery in general, nothing like the smoothness of the previous patch (although that wasn’t particularly smooth to begin with anyway). Just feels like I’m fighting against the game as much if not more than I’m fighting against the other guy. Not nice at all and possibly a deal breaker if it doesn’t improve or I can’t somehow get used to it.

  • C4 fuse time set at 50s. Everyone’s been saying for months that the game is too defensively biased, unless you’re going to significantly increase defenders spawn time this only makes matters worse. Can’t see the logic behind this decision.

We’re looking into getting all these points addressed ASAP, and then we’ll take steps to make sure they don’t make a release again.

This has to do with the adjustments to spawn placements throughout the level. We agree things in general were too defensively biased, but do not think that this timing change goes too much against that… for instance, it’s more important to offer advantageous sightlines for attackers to cover a planted C4 than the timer itself.

If this turns out to need further adjustments, we’ll… adjust it further. Please try it out a bit first.

All this did, IMO, was slow down player feedback.

Reply to what I’ve seen in this thread:

My FPS has gone up 2x to 3x since the update, on 8v8 servers, i don’t know why players are complaining about a FPS drop, but it has been a amazing performance improvement for me.

I have no problems seeing other players, again, I have everything on Low quality, with everything off, except One Frame Interval.

The boost to attackers, with the spawn timing, and the rubber band effect, has increased gameplay fun factor, there are less holds on the first objective, etc more interesting gameplay on maps, etc Probably the best part of the update

trainyard is better than ever
I have no problems with ‘bobbing’

What config are you using? What is your machine spec?

i don’t know why SD is investing that much time in the card system and things around the game but leaving the core game so bad. The games feels really wrong now. Maybe it is really the best to wait until 2018 for the final release…
