So from what I test tonight …

Maps

1rst on waterloo I like the new lighting, and some new art pass on some maps, but in term of layout maps are still more or less the same with some little adjustments, no REAL improvment in term of leveldesign. Maps stay ubber small even with few more routes … except maybe dome a bit larger, but for the moment no big changes on the actual maps, still some clautrophobic, meatgrind, and spamfest feeling.

Trainyard is still not really fun, lot of good improvement like the broken building, some larger routes and more space But, I still really hate the capture zone … This new carrying obj is not really interesting, and I dont understand how you can open a train with a milk jug ! In camden you got the most interesting doc run of all the one you made in this game and you replace it by this ? only thing I can say is Meh … again another strange choice …

Gameplay
Visibility is far worse than before, lighting on the enemy is really weird, most of the time you can’t even see them. all is really dark without any contrast.
Bobbing effect or camera mouvement when dead is horrible, I feel a big motion sickness everytime, almost make me puke …
No real optimisation or improvement on my side, still the same FPS drops.

UI
Much better than before

New load stuff and card still in test.

some quick feedback after playing a few games

Really don’t like the changes to the lighting on the maps and models. It’s really hard to see enemies. Waterloo and whitechapel seem darker with a heavy blue contrast. Everything just feels grey and dark and characters blend in even more than before

Looks like a couple people are having worse performance, but I feel like it’s the opposite. I played a couple maps of 8v8 and my fps was mostly in the 120-160 range. It was never like this before in 8v8.

I turned viewbob off but I was still getting some screen shake when reloading and throwing packs. Also, it seems like there is a new effect when you die. Your screen kind of shakes and tilts, maybe it’s related to viewbob, but its very annoying and made me feel slightly nauseous.

Also getting minor freezes in gameplay

-inventory section is very cool… maybe i play too much hearthstone, but it has that nice feeling when you open a pack.
-would be cool to have a voiceover that kinda takes the piss out of the innkeeper, when you earn an epic card etc
-i also found it difficult to distinguish the models properly
-also noticed the additional camera shakes, which took a while to get used to… was hoping there was a way to turn them off in menu :frowning:
-love some of the new taunts, theres some funny stuff there.

I agree with others in saying that the characters blend a lot more (I never had a big problem with it before).

  • On Chapel, the first little room up the stairs from the EV on the defenders side - the defenders blend into this room. It’s a lot different with the new patch, making it harder to shoot them from spawn (or while you are approaching EV).

  • I was shooting a guy on the new mg from the side route next to chapel and I honestly don’t think he could see me to return fire (he was a medium range player). I could barely see him either, but I knew he was on the MG so I aimed just above it.

The new UI looks great. Only got to play a map or two - will post more later.

The shaking is also odd. Not sure what the reasoning was there :confused:

Regarding screen-shake/camera animations, they have always been there but there’s previously been a Camera Animation option that most of you have likely been disabling.

This option was intentionally removed since it gave some players distinct gameplay advantage to not have the camera-anims when firing, as they effectively add to the weapons recoil.

I intend to get the option added back in so you can turn off all-but the firing camera-anims. While the shake on reloads, tool-use etc. is more immersive, it doesn’t impact gameplay so we’ll allow players to disable them if they don’t like them.

Update feedback:

The UI is awesome. Looks great. Other stuff sux alot. the maps are so wierd (lightningh, graphic…), u cant customize anything O.o so boring weapon and everything, u cant spectate anymore while you are death…
before the patch, the game was really fun and hardcore, now everything is so clumsy. I would delete the patch and play the game that was before.

Well it depends what type of game you want to make, this seems more a hide and seek game and not fast based shooter :frowning:

played a litle bit of Dome, will play it some more, but it does seem nice.

but 50-60 fps on a blockout? had like 120 on battersee blockout.
