How do I set it up so whoever joins my server has to download my .pk3 files?
Like my skin/sound packs?

I had the same question some time ago and nobody seems to be able to answer this =/
If people turn their download off, then they won’t have to download anything but the map that is playing and the map rotation file.
Kinda lame if you ask me, cause this might be considerd cheating (in my eyes it is)

lmao cheating? what are you talking about? imo the reason why no one told you was because, most people hate downloading ‘shitty’ sound/skin packs for the one time only they’ll play in your server.

If I make a model/skin pack, where everybody has very small heads and perfect camoflage etc.
And some have downloaded the mod and a few have not then those who have not are cheating imo.

And if you don’t wanna download the freakin shitty sound/skin packs then you should not join the shitty server. just disconnect fron the server as soon as you start downloading it. :banghead: :nag:

Yes Panther’s got a point but I have to back up Etnies on this one.

Newpacks are ok on a locked (clan) server but not really on a public one.

tell me, do you know how many public servers are out there?? hunderds, maybe thousands so if one server has something you don’t like, there is plenty more choice out there.
Further more, I some times get pretty bored with the standard ET so I alsways have my downloads on and see what kinda fun stuff is out there.
If you don’t like all this, maybe you should concider 2 things.

  1. Am I taking this game too serieus
  2. maybe I should play Mario Bros.

I think that it would be a solution if server admin would state in the server name string that where is a mod on the server. Something like “Server name xxxxxmod”. Then the user could either avoid those servers or connect to them depending on what the user prefers.

Don’t you agree?

I suggest you don’t enter every random server just because there are players in it. Otherwise you can allways play on unpure servers, or the pro et servers :bored:

Well, I do agree with it that server admins could tell it in their server name, but as this name hasn’t much space left for that kinda info it probably won’t be used for that.
and most ET players have a set of server they mostly visit.
So pick a few “clean” servers, put them in you favorites and see your troubles go away.
But don’t pick on admins that want their servers to have this mod or pack running and EVERYBODY to do so.

there should be some addon manager in ET damnit :nag:
i don’t like those downloads ( however i didnt play so often ) , and also take in mind that some modders just have to touch everything and they dont mind if result is worse than original, and yeah ton of stupid “clan” stuff and mspaint works are worst thing on ET
