Clans

I hope somone from Splashdamage read this because I need an real answear because of all the intervjues and soo on that I had looked at and read I miss one thing.

How this game is going to be in clan perspective? I meen Battlefield 2 was a great game to play in clans and soo on but DICE neever realy cared about clan gaming and on fookused on public gaming. Soo the bf2 sceen died after nearly a year, because DICE never whanted it to be turnaments and leagues like in CS . And thats the reason CS is onthrethen on the FPS gaming front bacause all creators just dont care to take their game to the top.
So the real question after this long line of bad spelling and whining is how is ID and you Splashdamage going to do whit this?

I know a hell of a lot of people that whant to play this game serius and whant to become good at it and just wait for it to get out.

maybe just look at W:ET and all your questions will be answered : o

there’s some mentions about clan considerations in the odd interview, iirc particularily the ones on gamearena

(kamikazee) #4

I second that.

ET is a concept, and W:ET is your free ticket to get to know it.

(Besides, you don’t need to wait for ET:QW then.)

(mortis) #5

So, in essence, we already have the ET:QW demo, and it’s called W:ET.

(Hansel) #6

BF2 design was already against clan playing, basically I think that maps and everything required too big teams.

Shh! Don’t let the devs hear you!

(rOTAn) #8

Not realy any answear I was seaking but thx anyway

(Nail) #9

not everyone gives a poo about clans, I would suggest the majority of on-line gamers don’t belong to clans, which may even include some of the devs.
I’m seriously tired of people saying developers should only make games that are 3 v 3 or 6 v 6, screw you, I want 12 v 12 games, I don’t care if your clan can’t field that large a team, GAMES AREN’T ABOUT CLANS

You are not your kill totals
You are not your kill-death-ratio
You are not your the top one hundred anything
You are not your total number of posts
You are not your propoganda signature
You are not the tank you drive
You are not your farkin’ stat sheet

I think calling et the demo for ET:QW is stretching things quite a bit. Not only are there significant gameplay differences (vehicles, asymetric classes, deployables, very different weapons) but ET wasn’t finished when it was released.

(ParanoiD) #11

[sarcasm]Meanwhile EA sells games that are further from finished then ET was for money…[/sarcasm]

(Shanks) #12

Clans are a large selling point for games, especially a game like quake wars, so why would the developers want to alienate the clanners just some pubbers can field a larger team? Maps that can be played with a small number of players as well as a large number of players are the best approach. IMO ET did that not only with the stock maps but many of the custom maps as well.

drunken comments below

I agree wirth you, not everyone is in a clan, but one big part of most games is that clans are the ones who runs the servers for the public. Many clans leaves thetre servers up for public play when not used so everyone benifits freom it. So if a game fits BOTH public and clan games, everyone benifits from it.

(Bravo) #14

Clans?

They are a system of playing due to the very nature of man, the need to belong to a group. It is healthy to be a part of a clan.

That, however is not so healthy, best to stand back, coiunt to ten and become a happy person again

(Nail) #15

I play on 6 - 10 servers when I get the chance, none of them are run by clans, I’ve seen far too much “It’s our server, we can do what we want” and that’s just on etpro, on other mods run by “clans” I see alot of admin abuse, I see many servers run by fans, not clans, I think they contribute just as much as the clannies

(Lanz) #16

Of course they do, everyone that pays the bill for a server and then leaves it open for public play contribute to the community. Some abuse their admin rights, and some don’t, which of course is up to them to do so if they whish. Still everyone that might become a server owner is someone you need to listen to, but of course that’s not saying that they should have any major influence over the game design.

I agree…
and with the latest patch, they destroyed it 100% - disallowing squadjumping when you die

I am also looking forward to ET:QW !!!

(cmos) #18

Well this is also the reason I am here.
Will Quake Wars be a good place for teams to compete against each other?

(BR1GAND) #19

Short answer is YES!

W:ET was very “clanable” and suited a small team game, perfect for clans. ET:QW shows the same team play style. ET:QW bucks the trend toward larger maps with 40+ ppl on a server. ala Joint Ops, BF2, and Soldner. It looks like it has bigger enviorments than W:ET, but im thinking thats mainly because of the vehicles.

(cmos) #20

Well QW isnt W, so my question still stand.
