Cheese in ET

(Shoot_me) #1

I’ve been playing ET for a little over a week now, and so far I’ve been very impressed. However there are a few things that need to be changed imo and i am just wondering if people agree:

  • Air strikes, IMO need to be reduced in power. It is amazingly easy to kill people with them (especially on Battery). Field ops has been the only class i’ve managed to get Brig. General with on a 3 map campaign. I’d suggest reducing the number of “bombs” to 2, as opposed to 4 or 5 it is now (4 can be the lvl 3 field ops reward)

  • Satchel charges. These things are funny. Place on at a choke point… say the tunnel exit on the Oasis and camp nearby. First person to try and walk by dies (as does any engi who tries to disarm it)… Even better, putting it on the foot bridge on Fuel Depo and waiting for the first brave soul to try and cross. I think they need to disappear after about 15
    seconds.

  • Rifle grenades. This is the best close combat weapon imo, even better then flamethrower. Its nearly impossible to dodge them if aimed right. I think they need 1.5-2 second explosion delay.

  • Panzers. Whats with the accuracy on these things? They are supposed to be rocket propelled grenades, not homing missiles. Would it be possible to reduce the projectile speed and maybe change them to be more like BF1942 bazookas?

  • Would it be imbalancing if medics and field ops got 2 exp for every med/ammo pack?

Have you ever played RTCW ?

(Shoot_me) #3

no

It’s kept most of us entertained for over a year now and honestly if you give it a while you will appreciate the effort that has been put into keeping things balanced. You’ll get the swing of it and employ tactics to avoid the things that are pissin’ ya off, don’t worry and it’ll become apparent why things are the way they are. :drink:

(Shoot_me) #5

none of these things are pissing me off… but i feel like i’ve been abusing these features too much personally

([=O=]SMYLER) #6

Ah so you’re a bit of a panzer whore then.

(Veritas) #7

it used to be 2, but they were advancing in ranks too quickly.

How were you able to achieve Brig. General rank by being only a Field Ops for 3 rounds? Not possible. You can only achieve level 4 status in 3 areas, Signals, Battle Sense and Light Weapons by being a Field Ops. You need 5 level 4 areas to achieve Brig. General.

Would be nice to set each servers configuration with different settings on how fast a player can get XP so their ranks get go high and they can enjoy the benefits of being a 3 star general in 2 rounds instead of playing at best for a full 1hr and a half worth of 3 rounds.

Tactics are similar to RTCW but new things are needed to be learnt such as looking out for spys and not shooting your own covert-ops. The latest shrub mod for RTCW features a uniform change which is similar to the covert ops, nice feature.

well he could also get heavy weapons by using mg’s, but still not enough to get what he claims.

Just stay out of the blast line and you’ll be fine. Unlike the fun newbies who run TOWARDS the smoke. heh. The only places I have problems is when they’re being mass-spammed on spawn points, or occasionally on battery before the ramp goes up.

…and then everyone behind comes through and kills you. They’re fine, basiclly a command detonated grenade. I agree that disarming them is useless.

“- Rifle grenades. This is the best close combat weapon imo, even better then flamethrower. Its nearly impossible to dodge them if aimed right. I think they need 1.5-2 second explosion delay.”

Never seen them used like that, or that effectively for that matter. You also only get a few shots, and its slow reload.

Maybe they should be less accurate like the guns, but the delay before firing adds its own inaccuracy. They don’t home. :stuck_out_tongue:

Air strikes aren’t very powerful, because you get plenty of opportunity to run away. I don’t often find myself being killed by airstrikes. Artillery is more of an issue for me, because I’m stupid and like to see if I can sprint through without being hit. I usually fail.

Satchel charges are used more for objectives that for people, in my experience. Sometimes you toss one in a large group, but in that case, you just detonate it right away. Leaving them there isn’t very useful, because you have to stay and watch it. If you go too far from a satchel charge, you can’t detonate it.

There’s nothing wrong with rifle grenades. They take a long time to load, and use 50% of your power. And I’d like to know how you use them at close range without killing yourself.

Yes, everyone hates panzers, but I think they have their place. They’re great for the tank on fuel dump and gold rush, for getting rid of snipers, and for clearing MG nests. Perhaps it should be possible to shoot them down, maybe?

Yes, it would be imbalanced if medics and field ops got 2 XP for each pack.

If Airstrikes are taken off then so should guns and knifes so we have to kill each other by hand.
Airstrikes won’t be reduced IMHO because they are used in all wars and this hads to the realism of the game.

Rifle Grenades are INCREDIBLY good for close combat once you get the Flak Jacket for achieving lvl 4 Engineer skills. With the flak jacket, one can have a grenade explode on them POINT BLANK and not die from it (if at full health).

Just my 2 cents…

(Emon) #15

Yeah, because when several hundred tons of munitions are dropped on the human body, it should survive!

(Shoot_me) #16

I dunno… by close combat i don’t mean up in someone’s face, just in the same room or something…

ex: the building on oasis with 2 floors ( the 1 after the old city wall)

if you are germans are there best way to get them out are rifle grenades (best way to get out on the other side too, since i can reach most of the mobile machine gun campers with it as well (though i may get shot up in the process)

i do kill myself sometimes, but the thing is i usually take 2 with me (and i don’t mean my teammates)

(amazinglarry) #17

I can’t STAND the rifle grenades… they have almost unlimited range. I saw a clanmate of mine kill an ally at the cave opening across the map on fuel depot from the axis fortification.

Panzers have been nerfed anyways imo, since I can dodge them like it’s my job now. The blast isn’t as powerful as they used to be either.
